Marvel Cinematic Universe

Not bad, honestly. I’m glad it wasn’t chock-full of Joss Whedon quips undercutting serious moments (though I’m sure there’s gonna be some in the movie). Cool we finally see Galactus up on the big screen, my only complaint is the casting of Pedro Pascal (he ain’t even a bad actor, I just don’t see him as Reed.) Perhaps I’ll like him more when I see the movie, but he only gets a few lines in the trailer and we don’t even see him use his powers, what a gyp!
The sue storm pick is a decent choice and comic book accurate with the blonde hair.

Also has some tits on her as well.

The Sue Storm actress seems the only one to fit. I am so over the Pascal astroturf, he is a shit actor and does not need to be Reed, and it should have been John K. The film feels too origin story and it makes me wonder if they learned their lesson from the previous 2 origin films that failed.

The film feels rushed as fuck, and they should have let it cook til December.

Terrible reed, even in the 2000s ones Reed is "Mr Fantastic" he's basically supposed to act like Tony did in iron man 1 except without the heart. like if Dr. House had stretching powers.
Is this set in the past or a different universe?
different universe, the leaks basically say at the end of their movie they get put into our universe. also they say that Sue is the "main" character of the film, with Reed having way less screen time, which makes sense considering the spic would be shooting this while also shooting his HBO show.

basically its all about Sue and the other 3 are her supporting cast.
I am surprised that the trailer didn't show Robert Downy Jr. As Doom.
supposedly he doesn't appear in the film at all/beyond a post credits cameo a la the hulk film

Watched the first two episodes of the new Spider-Man show. The animation is easily the worst part about it (with character models being super stiff at times), but the rest of it seems fine. It's a bit hard to give a definitive opinion with only two episodes out right now. They're already laying the groundwork for cameos, like with Amadeus Cho working at Oscorp and Captain America appearing in a photo with Norman Osborn.

Sue being the main lead could work if they get really imaginative with her powers. She can do some cool stuff when maxed out

F4 is looking somewhat better than I expected but I still don't like most of the cast. They really need to make Ben's voice sound rougher once he becomes the Thing.

You know, its pretty funny how despite Miles being shilled to hell and back his only memorable "villain" was the prowler......a fucking c lister villain from the 70s and even then it took the niggerverse movies to make him an actual character instead of just a nigger moment stereotype

It pisses me off more seeing him as Joel in The Last of Us. The only thing that makes him resemble Joel is the scruffy facial hair.

@Chaotic Pizzaparty I have an irritated feeling in the pit of me bowels, that Victor's gonna have cosmic radiation-death planet powers for the third time, so he feels like a hamfisted, obvious as fuck antithesis of the Four. About another antithesis:

We've never seen Super Skrull, or The Frightful Four in the FF films. K'lrt appeared, perhaps in the 1990s cartoon, and definitely in World's Greatest Heroes. That show has a good assortment of foes: Diablo, Ronan the Accuser (of course), The Frightful Four, Annihilus, Diablo, Mole Man, and even The Hulk. She-Hulk even appears as a temporary replacement for Ben in the last Mole Man centred episode.

Although, I don't remember the other Anti-FF, The U-Foes, being in it. I just know that Ironclad is a boss fight in The Incredible Hulk video game, and the rest of the Foes appear in Immortal Hulk.

@Scarlett Johansson Ben Hardy as Angel weren't that much better, either, honestly, but he was... alright with what he had. Joseph-Johnny-Storm-Quinn, I'm willing to give a chance.

@UCT I used to watch reruns of Spider-Man (TAS) on cartoon channels, and on DVD, so, when I played Shattered Dimensions and heard Christopher Daniel Barnes as the voice of Spider-Man Noir, it, due to bias, became my favourite section, or sections of the game. Hearing MY Spidey as a dark, jaded while still very young, but not in high school for seemingly ever, vigilante detective, made me grin like an idiot.

@Overly Serious It's basically my cockheadish humour, relating to Evan Rachel Wood being Jamie Bell's ex, and Kate Mara being in Fan Fourstic, but I feel she'd be a fitting pick. Hey, maybe Virginia Gardner would be decent enough.

I'm totally skipping this, tbh. I can't stand Pascal and I have zero trust over MCU projects.

Like, the rumor of that trans from Euforia being considered as Mystique is making me skip xmen entirely as well.

Hot take but the last time Spider-Man was good was the cartoon Spectacular Spider-Man. Can't remember a single thing I've watched, read, or played related to Spider-Man in the past decade that treated him with respect or wasn't carried by better past Spider-Men like No Way Home, and the comics have sucked ass since like the mid-2000s.

Its time to just come to terms with the fact that Spider-Man and Marvel as a whole is fucking dead.
At least now, most animated shows are better than the current comic counterparts. X-men 97 is better than the actual x-men runs and if you think that doesn't apply to what if or new SM, it's bc you probably haven't read the comics versions... They suck.

Between not showing the woman surfer and the shitty miscasting of everyone outside of the woman, it feels like we're getting another shitty "put a chick in it and make her gay and lame" movie

everyone knows Marvel comics have sucked for over 20 years now, thats literally why the industry collapsed in the 90s.

no way in hell that works, the tranny is already starting to show his true gender and mystique is a very body focused role because of the original films. fucking J-Law said she got an eating disorder from everyone on set and in public comparing her to the original actress.

i'm sure some blogger put it out there because of the shape shifting powers, the same way someone said "wouldn't it be neat for a tranny to play the lead role in rocky horror" except i doubt the suits at fox will agree that its a great idea this time around.

I really think Pascal is a terrible pick for Richards and the Thing sounded and looked a bit weird. And Sue Storm is supposed to be classically beautiful. Too little seen of Johnny to make a call on him so maybe he'll be decent.

Despite that, I liked the aesthetic of the rocket ship and it's the first Marvel film in an age that managed to pique my interest. The shadow of Galactus at the end was a draw. If that's bait, then fuck 'em.

Reed isn't supposed to be like IM1 Tony Stark. He's not a quick-fire acerbic ego machine. Whilst a confident guy, he's not got Stark's brashness. Stark is the one who flies down onto a stage filled with girls dressed in sexy iron-man tribute outfits at an Expo he named after himself. Reed does action and heroics, but he's also equally likely to lose himself in equations and forget he's married until his wife runs off with Namor.

I'm surprised they didn't show off the female Silver Surfer in the trailer.
A gender-flip I might be alright with for once, given the Surfer is athletic and naked the whole time. I'm ready for a sexy version of the T-1000. They'll probably screw it up, though.

The design for the Thing is okay, kind of wish he was a bit bigger (not necessarily that much taller). As it stands, I have a hard time imagining this Thing taking on the Hulk in any capacity. The voice is a huge miss though. It should have been more gravely/gruff and the lack of any sort of New York accent is a shame. Waiting to see more on the Human Torch to pass judgment but at least he's about the same age as Tom Holland, so hopefully they weave in that friendship down the line. I feel like the Marvel Rivals designs of the Fantastic Four completely blast the fuck out of these designs though.

Sue being the "main" character would line up with the rumor about Reed I heard. Rumor is that this Reed is secretly not from their universe and arrived here due to an accident that happened with an experiment. This alternate Reed decided to stay in their universe because his life is better there than back home.

That might explain a lot of stuff actually. The prolonged presence of a Reed from a different universe in this stylized 60s universe could potentially cause an incursion, which is what brings Galactus to Earth. It would explain a lot about Franklin's powers too. Franklin's reality warping powers might not just be because of the cosmic rays his parents were exposed to but the fact that his parents are from different universes, making him a multiversal being. Maybe that Reeds is from the MCU universe and that's why they get dragged into the MCU later on.

You think the MCU is actually going to remember any of the contradictory multiverse mechanics they've been making up with zero communication?
They don't even have to rely on "prolonged presence of someone not native to this universe" causing the incursions like they imply in Doctor Strange 2 and Antman 3. They can explain it as the union between Sue and not-native Reed potentially causing an incursion because of Franklin being a multiversal birth. They can play fast and loose with the mechanics for incursions but they are definitely going to come up as incursions are a whole precursor to Secret Wars.
