I wouldn't say it's specifically tied to her DiGeorge syndrome. The actual reasons might be a bit more disturbing.

Emily has the mentality of an 11 year old girl. If you knew a young girl who was doing this same behavior, it would raise a lot of red flags. At some point I her life, Emily was taught to behave like this. Sure, she was groomed by the pedophile but she met him by being a virtual child prostitute on Second Life. She was already engaging in this behavior before she met him.

We can only speculate on what she was exposed to. Personally, my theory is she was abused by her stepbrother Rikky. He is also mentally retarded, and has a disturbing criminal record. I imagine this is Emily misunderstanding. As far as I know, you can get your glasses in any shape with any prescription. I’ve ordered glasses from online before, clicked several pair, and there was no disclaimer that they don’t make it with xyz prescription. Same with getting glasses in person. Like @Trombonista said, some eye problems do indeed exclude you from getting lasik though.

B) Emily gets Tard bucks right? Often government programs are restrictive on what frames they will pay for. You get a much smaller selection of frames if big daddy government is paying for them and her current frames is one of the few the government is willing to pay for.

From what I can tell, if you have prism lenses (those funky wedge shape ones) you can't get them in some of the super thin or stylish frames due to the weight of them. But in general in 99% of frames you can get any lenses in them. I assume B is the more likely reason why Emily thinks she has to stick with frames straight out of a 60s sitcom.

I also know that several eye surgeries won't be carried out on patients with high chlosterol, so its possible Emily's poor diet is contributing to the decision to turn her down for it.
