I'd like to say that I feel optimistic about this news. However, I don't think they'll ever return to form like they were in their heyday. The day the election was called for Trump, Burnie was absolutely seething on his morning podcast.

So unless they purely focus on creating content, and leave the TDS to bluesky and their personal podcasts, it's just going to end up like how it did last year. Hemorrhaging money and given the old yeller treatment.

Part of me is still a fan and I'd like to see them succeed...but not if they actively display just how much they hate their old fan base which led to the company's painfully slow demise.

The thing is, nobody’s clamoring for this because they already get it! If you liked classic Let’s Play, then there’s Geoff and Gavin’s Regulation Gameplay channel, which is basically if the old style never left. While it isn’t anywhere as big as the old company was, Geoff has even specifically said he vastly likes the podcast and LP channel more as it’s just a bunch of friends fucking around, while Burnie clearly wants the new RT as an actual production thing, instead.

You can't roll the clock back to 2014 because the people who made the content we all loved are either doing their own thing (Ray, Gavin, Geoff), no longer funny (Jeremy, Jack), or literally fucking dead (Monty). Maybe it's still possible to recapture some of the old spirit with a new project under the old name but I guaranteed this will end badly if you just reboot RvB for the 80th time.

It'd be like George Lucas buying back Star Wars now the brand has been irreparably ruined so he can remake the Disney trilogy his way.

Burnie has a great idea for a fresh, new, and exciting web-based series or film project and he wants to use his creative reputation and Rooster Teeth's name recognition as the means by which he can make and promote it.

I hope it's this option because I'd love to see what great idea he has that he thinks could make anyone give a shit about RT again.
