"Zero Punctuation" and "Dev Diary" by Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw - The only thing worth watching on The Escapist

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
In the latest Yahtzee Tries supercut there is (was?) a bit of him saying "I think Hitler was right". It was very quickly scrubbed by someone with channel accesss trimming the video through their feed (You can still hear th "I"), but the comments remain.

Here's what they had to say:

Which just proves nobody fucking watches the full streams because there's zero chemistry between Yahtz and whatever bumblefuck he brings along since they're all spineless cowards (recently it's been some distant family member I think? Possibly his brother?).
Honestly I can't be fucked to find the timestamp in the full thing. I'm just going to inhale copium and tell myself there still is a soul inside him.

He constantly talks about waaaacism, but people forget he used to literally put blackface on his cartoon avatar back in the olden days of ZP. He projects, just like all lefties do.

Yahtzee either plays inde-games or new games i have not ever heard of. Wonder if he's avoiding DWO because his BFF Jim sterling hates it.

That was one of the signs that ZP was declining. I mentioned this about a month or so ago.

It started [in 2015] (looking at the wiki, the first one was in January 2015 with Five Nights at Freddy's and This War of Mine). It definitely started out with semi-popular stuff like a dual feature of Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number and Ori and the Blind Forest, stuff people have heard of, in comparison to stuff no one has heard of, for example in September 2023, a dual feature of Lies of P and Chants of Sennaar.

If you want to review vidya, once you establish yourself as to what you review...in Yahtzee's case it was mainstream games with some popular indie games and occasionally retro title (especially if it got some new re-release, Daikatana being a prime example), people expect you to review "mainstream games with some popular indie games and occasionally retro title". Now sometimes things change but this was all done without an announcement, it wasn't "hey, we're going to be switching to reviewing more indie titles now, today's video is two games exclusive to itch.io...", it was just over time. And I'm sick of it.

How do you even review indie in the modern day? The devs are some of the most thinned skinned people who've ever lived (ironic because they tend to be fat) and will kickoff a shit storm if you didn't suck them off enough. I know that the Selaco dev was a little bitch.

I suppose it would depend on what you wanted to achieve. If it was to get a small following and small profit because you have a fun personality and people want to listen to what you have to say, then you can review them honestly, even if some indie devs flip out.

Trying to get "in" with the vidya journalism/developer crowd is knowing when to suck people off and when to argue, which is what Yahtzee and his pals do. This is what a lot of people do when they have money and some fame but not the prestige they want; it's despicable behavior, especially if they still claim to be the edgelord they used to be.

Not watch it yet but i assume its awful?
He says the game bored him more than anything else, and I agree. People joked about the first game being Czech Oblivion, but this game is just a slavjank Oblivion clone. It's definitely as broken as a Bethesda game, but without the charm of the historical setting and realism. That's when you get past all the really sketchy woke things added and the humiliation of Henry that the game has an unhealthy obsession with in nearly every quest.

So, this game is just as busted as the 1st game was or worse? 'Cause I remember with KC1, the devs was super hostile when people mocked how badly optimized and buggy the game was.

Combat is easier but the game systems are genuinely jankier. It's just as buggy as the first too despite the much bigger budget.
Of course, to even play the game, you have to first go thru a 3 HOUR TUTORIAL, much of which is cutscenes and humiliation rituals for Henry and Hans. The game in general seems to hate the player and Henry both, from making him lick/eat corpses to having him be berated by every single female character for no reason, to psychic guards who seem to know you've stolen something when nobody caught you doing it to characters constantly throwing gay innuendos at the player. There is no fun allowed or any sense of adventure, just constant suffering, at least in the early game. The writing and atmosphere is nothing like in the first game, and the historical aspect of it is also questionable, with several downright inaccuracies or fabrications. It is worse than the first game in almost every single way and not nearly dumbed down enough for the mainstream audience.
BTW the game is also badly optimized on top of that, altho the devs have their plate full dealing with other problems right now to care.

He decided to be openly political now for no real reason so let's see how this plays out in the future. As of now his comments don't care and are happy.
Gets triggered over JKRowling because my poor trannies and now he's openly seething about orange man and tesla man. The edge has eroded completely, he's just another has-been left wing "comedian" now.
