Public perception of Ubisoft is a lot lower than Warhorse (even with any of this controversy), and Shadows probably cost 5x more to make than KCD 2. Add in the various Marketing campaigns (including having to alter marketing and merchandise) and the general bloat at Ubisoft and the game is going to have to sell insanely well to break even. I'm talking like 5 Mil+ in the first few months.

Even if it ends up selling extremely well, Ubisoft is in such a hole that even selling "successfully" relative to other games isn't going to be good enough for them.

I think it's a bit simpler than that: He was always a lolcow worthy, neurotic kike but he had to hide it to keep his job. There is immersion and systems meant to add depth to the world and exploration then there is just fruitless busywork. Where is the meat? How much of the story is just Henry picking up everything he lost? It feels like there isn't even really a main story to follow.

There isn't. I've played a bit more and I cannot overstate how fucking awful this game is. The entire story is just chores. Every time you make progress toward a goal, something happens to swoop it out from under you. There's a new step or new busywork to set everything back. In the main story, when you're about to meet the lord at the wedding, he doesn't show up. When you've cured the captain of his sickness so he can reveal your identity, he doesn't, and it all falls apart--only to be saved in a cutscene by something out of your control. The plot is a helplessness simulator, where Henry is endlessly shit on, spat on, and humiliated by everyone he meets, and he has to spend every waking second doing other people's chores.

I mean this sincerely when I say that the developers have a humiliation fetish. They are sexually aroused by the idea of having nothing and being endlessly insulted by NPCs, and making sure the player never gets what he sets out for. I, as a player, keep successfully completing the objectives given to me by the game, and yet I still fail, over and over and over again. This is such awful writing. It's bad in any story when the characters do things right and fail anyway, but it's totally unacceptable in a video game (or a supposedly choice-based RPG). I want to succeed. I want to be recognized for my valor. I want to be a knight. This shit is unacceptable.

Even at its best KCD2 is a failure. The best quest in the game sees you go out after two bandits with two older knights. The writing is good, and the story is decent. But even here Henry is cast as a useless retard who can't do anything on his own and has to take orders from other people. You are never given any power in this game or put into any position of authority: you are always a bitch. I haven't seen the pedophilic-sodomy scene yet, but I presume you get to be the one receiving.

What is the point of the sequel, then? The story doesn't lead anywhere, there is nothing that HAPPENS in the story, and Henry just gets reduced to being a shit covered, shit eating peasant that nobody respects for absolutely no reason. Why even bother playing this as a fan of the first game? You might as well make up ending slides of your own as the canonical ending of KCD1 depending on what your character did rather than humiliate yourself playing this game. This is the same criticism I have with TLOU2, it's the same kind of humiliation ritual of everything you loved, be it with a golf club killing your beloved fan favorite character or just plain mean spirited character assassination in KCD2. The gameplay certainly hasn't gotten better, so there is no excuse there.
