Meanwhile here's some example code for an NES game that someone made. Maybe without enough time I could come to understand what the fuck any of that does, but I have a newfound appreciation for the poor Japanese bastards that made Super Mario and why it's probably impossible for anyone to make a game that even more autistic speed runners can't find ways to exploit.
There's a Youtube channel I've seen called Displaced Gamers that reverse engineers NES code. I'm not a programmer at all so a lot of it flies over my head but it seems the main method is using emulation tools where you can see the code updating in real time as you play, and noticing hey, when I jump these values move, when I get hit these values move, then you can trace what those variables are doing and alter them to do stuff like make the jumps higher or negate the damage you are supposed to take. That's basically how the Game Genie worked. It gets way more complicated than that obviously but there are tools to figure this stuff out.

While I'm in here, it absolutely astounds me how partisan thinking can wipe out all brain cells. My leftie buddies have spent years griping about how the problem in society is that rich fucks steal away the earnings of the poor for themselves, if only we could stop it, if only we could distribute wealth more equally... And yet they're losing their minds in outrage over DOGE. I want to shake them and yell "I agree! And look! There they are! We found them! We found how they're stealing the money! We're stopping it! You should be celebrating!"

But they can't see it. They don't get it. They just spout "Musk is evil! Raise minimum wage to $30/hr!" like a wind-up toy.

Insane.
I've come to find out that they only want it if THEIR guy is in power, about as frustrating as people saying who think the grocery prices are high because of "price gouging" and not the fact that we printed a trillion dollars every 100 days for the past 4 years.

You've all paid taxes to promote atheism. The Democrats have been funnelling your hard-earned money in service of the west's destruction, basically.

This is a huge, HUGE blackpill for everyone, not just Americans.
Just a reminder that "promoting atheism in Nepal" means giving funds to the Chinese backed Communist government and Hindu supremacist groups in Nepal to persecute Christians in that country,

Christians in Nepal, the Himalayan Hindu-majority nation where believers of Christ have a long history of persecution, are facing fresh attempts to defame them and their faith. In early April, Hindu nationalists circulated a forged document on social media that showed Christian groups have outlined a plan to cause ethnic rifts among Hindus to convert them. The document, allegedly prepared by two leading ecumenical Christian groups — Nepal Christian Society (NCS) and National Churches Fellowship of Nepal (NCFN) — noted that Christian conversion campaigns cannot succeed unless they first sew division between upper-caste Brahmins and Chhetris. The document, dated April 5, claimed that the United Mission to Nepal (UMN), a Christian NGO, is supporting the NCS and the NCFN “to achieve their mission." Established in 1954 and supported by the Presbyterian Church of Ireland, the UMN is one of the largest development agencies in Nepal. It has never faced such an allegation. The document first appeared on the Facebook profiles of pro-Hindu Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leaders and went viral.
The UMN lamented that Hindu extremists are once against attempting to discredit the local Christian community
The RPP leaders and others blasted Christian groups and demanded that punitive action be taken and registrations of Christian charities be canceled.
“This is a vivid example of organized/planned conversion that has been going on for some years now. Organized conversion is punishable under the constitution. Such acts that destroy national identity and disrupt cultural harmony should be dealt with immediately in accordance with the law,” RPP chief Kamal Thapa tweeted on April 5.
Both the NCS and NCFL issued statements to protest the fabricated document. NCS secretary Mukunda Sharma told New Delhi-based Morning Star News that it was part of a well-planned strategy by Hindu radicals to defame Christians and stoke anti-Christian sentiments, adding that complaints to police yielded no results as police refused to file a formal case.
Dismissing the document, the UMN lamented that Hindu extremists are once against attempting to discredit the local Christian community and to undermine the socioeconomic development and poverty reduction campaigns that their charities have run in Nepal for decades.
Observers noted that the fake document might be a ploy by Hindu radicals ahead of the national census that was scheduled for June 8-22, now postponed as Nepal experiences an upsurge in Covid-19 cases and deaths in recent weeks. The government wants to complete it by the end of this year.
It seems the extremists who campaign for Hindu hegemony in Nepal fear that the census will highlight a rise in Christian numbers. The conversions are one outcome of social, economic and political repression of lower-caste communities by the Brahmins. A pre-emptive plan targeting Christians was predictable.
Hindus make up for more than 81 percent of Nepal’s population, with Buddhists accounting for 9 percent, Muslims 4.4 percent and Christians 1.4 percent, according to the 2011 census.
Before the abolition of the monarchy in 2007, Nepal was a Hindu state for two centuries. It endured through decades of deadly Maoist insurgency and ethnic conflicts between some of the country’s 25 ethnic groups. The establishment of a secular democracy saw nationalist, communist and right-wing parties in government.
Christianity has existed in Nepal for more than five centuries despite repeated persecution throughout the nation’s volatile political history. Nepal has only about 8,000 Catholics but an estimated 3-5 million Protestant and evangelical Christians belong to about 12,000 churches, mostly based in the poor, rural heartland of Nepal. The World Database of Christians records Nepal as one of the fastest-growing Christian communities.
Lower-caste Hindus convert to Christianity seeking a release from widespread discrimination and abuse by upper-caste Hindus who reign supreme in a four-tier social system, along with the poverty and unemployment that is part of this discrimination.
For disadvantaged communities like bottom-rung Dalits (untouchables) and marginalized ethnic groups like the Chepangs, Christianity is the only hope for survival in this highly discriminatory environment. According to the National Federation of Christians in Nepal, 65 percent Christians are former Dalits.
But this outflow is embarrassing for the so-called guardians of Hinduism and promoters of Hindu statehood in Nepal who for years carried out hate campaigns against Christians over the so-called “Christian takeover” of the country. In fact, it is covering up the failures of the state and society to support its most vulnerable people.

In one case in April 2000, some 16 Protestant Christian families were harassed, beaten and expelled from their villages
Hindu nationalists have also long propagated that conversion to Christianity is “deviating from the faith of the ancestors and therefore breaking with their culture and their national identity.”
There are numerous cases of how Christian converts facing tremendous pressure from their families, friends, community and government officials to return to the fold.
In one case in April 2000, some 16 Protestant Christian families were harassed, beaten and expelled from their villages in Gorkha district in western Nepal following their conversion. The local administration and police turned a blind eye, blaming a Maoist insurgency in the area.
Hindu radicals claimed the incident was a response from villagers angry over “conspiracy against conversion through enticements” and accused Christian institutions including missionary schools of “weakening Hindu culture” by their activities, paving the way for a rise in Hindu radicalism.
Indeed, such anti-Christian sentiments are blamed for the rise of Hindu extremist outfits like the Nepal Defense Army that bombed the Assumption Cathedral Church in the capital Kathmandu in 2009, leaving three Catholics dead and many injured. The same group threatened a church official with further bomb attacks in 2012.

In 2017, arsonists attempted to set fire to the cathedral, causing substantial damage to the church and priest’s residence. In 2018, four Protestant and evangelical churches were burned by unknown arsonists, and again fingers were pointed at radical groups.
There are dozens of cases of harassment, arrest and jailing of Christians in Nepal on fabricated conversion charges, which has intensified since 2018 when the country passed new criminal legislation, the Civil and Criminal Codes, that makes conversion a punishable crime warranting a up to five years imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 rupees (US$423).

Hindu extremists pushed for the strict anti-conversion law and the ruling government approved it as politically expedient in the Hindu-majority state. It is in direct conflict with Nepal’s 2015 constitution that recognizes freedom of religion and adopted secularism, democracy and human rights as state principles.

With constitutional backing and blatant political motives, extremists feel emboldened
Notably, despite adopting secularism, Nepal’s constitution is tilted towards Hinduism. Indirectly, it implicitly protects Hinduism as it declares a “protection of the age-old religion and culture and religious and cultural freedom.” Article 26 forbids anyone to “convert a person of one religion to another religion, or disturb the religion of other people.”

With constitutional backing and blatant political motives, extremists feel emboldened and more than 16 cases of harassment of Christians on allegations of conversion have been reported since 2018. Rights activists say the true figure of abuses stemming from the anti-conversion law is much higher.

There is also a new dimension in the harassment of Christians. Nepal Christian Society reported that in March leaders of 20 churches expressed concerns after civilians dressed as policemen visited churches and interrogated them on a range of questions including the churches' funding, property and pastors' income.

It’s a new way of intimidating Christians in a country where communities are reeling from long-running persecution by religious and political decree.

Nepali Hindu nationalists count on the moral support of India’s right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of PM Narendra Modi despite both countries being on bad terms diplomatically in recent times.

The world pays much attention to the plight of minorities including Muslims and Christians in countries like India and Pakistan, but the silent persecution of Christians in the tiny Himalayan state remains largely unnoticed. Christians in Nepal must be saved from renewed persecution.

Arrest of Christians in Nepal prompts religious freedom worry

Reports of five Christians being arrested on faith-related charges in Nepal this week have sparked international concern and calls for changes to the country's strict anti-conversion laws.
"Nobody should be persecuted because of their faith," said Tehmina Arora, senior counsel for ADF International, South Asia. "The arrested were simply tending to the needs of the Christian community in Nepal. Their right to do so is firmly secured under international law."
Arora said this week's arrests are not an isolated event.
"Anti-conversion laws in Nepal and a restrictive constitution have regularly subjected Christians and members of other religious minorities to arbitrary arrests, criminal charges, and violations of their fundamental rights," she warned.
Police raided a hotel in Ghorahi, Nepal early Tuesday morning, ADF International said. They arrested five people who were scheduled to attend a Christian conference, on the grounds that they were attempting to induce conversions.
Those arrested were Pastor Dilliram Paudel, general secretary of the Nepal Christian Society, U.S. citizen Leanna Cinquanta, Indian citizen Gaurav Shrivastava, and Nepalese citizens Kunsang Tamang and Pramid Kafle.
Cinquanta was later deported, ADF International reported.
International Christian Concern, a group that monitors the global human rights of Christians and other religious minorities, said the others who were arrested are facing criminal charges for attempted proselytization.

Nepal's 2015 Constitution prohibits religious conversion. A new criminal code subsequently put in place allows for up to five years in prison for conversion or proselytization, which is considered a means of undermining and jeopardizing other faiths.
ADF International said the change in the criminal code has led to a significant increase in persecution of religious minorities, including Christians, in the country.
"We increasingly see Christians and other religious minorities face persecution and denial of their fundamental rights in Nepal," said Paul Coleman, executive director of ADF International.
"All people have the right to freely choose, and live out their faith. We urge the Nepali government to uphold this right and do more to protect religious minorities and promote religious freedom."
"These arrests and potential deportation are truly concerning for Nepalese Christians and the future of religious freedom in Nepal," said William Stark, regional manager of International Christian Concern.
"Nepal's sweeping anti-conversion law must be repealed if religious freedom is truly a right to be enjoyed by the country's citizens," he said.

The United States government under Joe Biden was literally funding the murder and surpression of a Christian community. This is evil.
Two words: Black September. The Wikipedia article isn't necessarily something I would trust at face value, but it's definitely a good primer.

Minor history lesson: the Palestinian cause is, by and large, a forever issue that Muslim-majority nations will rally behind, yet do absolutely fuck-all about. Why? Arab nationalism irrevocably tainted the Palestinian cause, and any country that took them in en masse ultimately suffered insurgencies. Jordan was no exception.

It must be noted that the Kingdom of Jordan is ruled by the Hashemite Dynasty, descendants of the former Sharif of Mecca, who claim ancestry to the Prophet through his great-grandfather Hashim ibn Abd Manaf. The Hashemite dynasty isn't universally revered, yet they still retain a ton of soft power throughout the Arab and greater Islamicate world because of their family lineage. It's no coincidence that Jordan began to align with the USA after Black September happened. In fact, the 1979 revolution in Iran, where Imam Khomeini's hostile rhetoric toward monarchies in the Islamicate world spread like wildfire, only served to accelerate the process as monarchies like Jordan, the KSA, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and so on began to align with the USA's geopolitical strategies.

To be fair, the Kingdom of Jordan does still have the largest population of Palestinian refugees on the planet iirc (~3 million), and outlined clear pathways to citizenship. Having said that, no one in the Arab world is foolhardy enough to get intimately involved with the Palestinian cause. It's just easier to decry Israel for being an apartheid state and do absolutely fucking nothing about it.
Even if they do something about it they will get obliterated. Israel is objectively the most powerful country in the middle east by a country mile. They have the most advance weapons systems and intelligence agency in the world. Isreal doesn't even have to fight because they can push their pet goyim the USA to pressure or fight for them.

The only realistic and serious threat to Israel would be if a high ranking group of Mossad agents goes rouge and attacks their own government.

Can someone give me the steal-man for gutting/getting rid of the Department Of Education? It seems like every problem that is causing lackluster metrics in U.S. education can directly be tied to things that yes, aren't due to a LACK of funding (black people) but getting rid of it just seems retarded.

Name one thing that mainly deals with citizens that would be made worse by going from federal government control to state government control.

Then, next, look at America's education level and performance over time compared to when the DoE began.
That will get you started on asking some productive questions.

Education is funded in the US at the local level via property taxes. The parents and community of the school have direct influence on how their children are taught. State governments facilitate school districts and wider curriculum. The Federal Government doesn't need to involve itself in education, and up until 1970 when Jimmy Carter created the Department of Education, it didn't. Additionally, the federal DoE is a source of woke faggotry infecting school education. Top-down forced indoctrination is not the American way of doing things.
I found it interesting to learn the state my work is in only 7% or so is federal aid for schools. Every school is locally or state funded enough that the dept of ed won't matter for funding. Unless its the schools specifically receiving federal funding which is schools in under achieving (read as black/latino/ghetto) neighborhoods.

The only thing I'm not sure of is how it would effect student loans. Sadly you work in disabilities and you sometimes get paid less than a fast food employee.

So here's an interesting coinkidink:

Way back during the Autism Holy War, I made the observation that DIGRA, the research firm behind all those "50% of gamers are women" studies, was partly paid for by the state department. Doing a bit of digging suggested that there was a fuckton of money getting pumped into that shit by the government.

So cut to a couple of days ago. Guess what gets exposed?

GjJyQBuWIAA45T1.jpg

.....USAID was being used to fund Feminist Frequency.
Curiously, they never really recieved any of it, which suggests that FemFreq folding around 2020 or so had something to do with this.

The bigger takeaway is what follows.

GjJyRkEWoAEpCJz.jpg

You know how over the last few years, multiple publications kept screeching about GG after the fact, to the point where it practically became a fucking meme in and of itself?
Yeah, USAID was being used to fund those, and probably had been for years.

DoE was founded in 1980. Adult illiteracy rate that year in the US was 0.6%. Adult illiteracy rate in 2024 in the US was 21%. Enough said.
I was going to say those numbers appear to be bullshit, but then I realized you're saying ILLITERACY not literacy. I absolutely believe that, even before we consider the fact that even back in my high school days I had a sinking realization that my fellow classmates during our senior projects... couldn't read.

Still. I wonder how much of that 21% are wetbacks.

Okay gonna PL here: I worked as a teacher for 2 years cause nobody hires political science majors. It's useless.

So here is how it worked where I was and how I understood it. The Department of Education says "this is what we will be testing on, focus on this part of this event". The state Department of Education gets the list on what will be tested on and what a certain grade should know. They deliver this to the superintendents. The supers go to all the various principals with the news as well as SAMPLES OF NEW BOOKS THAT COINCIDENTALLY MATCHES WHAT THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION HAS DECIDED A GRADE SHOULD LEARN WHILE ALSO FORGETTING TO MENTION THE KICKBACKS THAT THE SUPERS AND PRINCIPALS GET FROM THE PUBLISHING COMPANY.

The caps bit is important because it shows how all of it is a way for everybody, DOE, SDOE,Supers, and Principals to line their own pockets.

This is how I understood it to be. It might be wrong. The economics teacher I learned it from was nearing retirement and fairly resentful for getting passed over for a cushy job as the grade school principal.

Can someone give me the steal-man for gutting/getting rid of the Department Of Education? It seems like every problem that is causing lackluster metrics in U.S. education can directly be tied to things that yes, aren't due to a LACK of funding (black people) but getting rid of it just seems retarded.

Asked and answered multiple times now, but I'mma throw my hat in anyway.

Consider that we landed men on the moon multiple times over the course of the 60s and early 70s using computers (both on the modules and in mission control itself) that probably had--combined--less processing power than the smart phone in your pocket. Consider the literacy ratings referenced by posters before me. Consider that to be an educated lady or gentleman with any actual class, you had to be able to parse Shakespeare without Cliffnotes. Consider that the sum of human knowledge was not available at one's fingertips and required hitting libraries and reading or watching educational TV stuff (assuming that even existed back then, I dunno, not old enough).

Now look at what NASA does in this day and age, which is...fuck all. Or screw up calculations and losing modules on re-entry because they forgot to convert from feet to meters. Or lose entire shuttle crews because some jackwagon signed off on a safety checklist despite the preponderance of evidence that the weather was going to be miserable enough to damage sensitive components leading to leaks and explosions.

So, how's about instead of us proving our case that the DoE is at best not helping and at worst an active impediment to education, how 'bout you explain just why in the fucking fuck anyone should want this worthless barnacle of an organization clinging to the ass of every school in the country.

Consider that the sum of human knowledge was not available at one's fingertips and required hitting libraries and reading or watching educational TV stuff (assuming that even existed back then, I dunno, not old enough).

Reading had actually existed for several years by the time we went to the moon. Not long after, we invented papyrus.
