I agree with the overall premise, but I disagree with detractors actually being able to influence it. Phil has run with the narrative for years now that detractors are constantly messing with him, just to push the "us vs. them" mentality, even though there's been long stretches of detractors barely existing. Heck, people are so convinced of the narrative that Phil is constantly being harassed and trolled that even a surprising number of people on KF believe it and act like Phil is constantly under attack. KF could shut down tomorrow and every YouTube channel/twitter/reddit account could get banned and Phil would still insist detractors are trying to ruin his life and both simultaneously sabotaging his business by keeping him from getting sponsors or flagging his videos or stalking his "family" etc while also insisting that he's never been better off in life, because Phil can't ever present a coherent narrative when he lies.

But yeah, it doesn't matter whether detractors are actually doing anything or not. His supporters want to LARP as internet heroes saving their best friend Phil, and even if there was somehow a solid year where nobody made a video or even tweet about Phil, they'd be sitting in chat making "jokes" about how crazy detractors were about the escort saga, or how those loser trolls are seething in their basements, sulking that the tip goal was hit and the next <insert vest streak replacement here> goal was met.

So essentially, as long as Phil can keep the lie going, the whales will always have a boogeyman. And we know how good Phil is at holding a grudge.

Yeah. Remember when the sons of Kojima disbanded? He first ran with "I have finally some breathing space because my biggest detractor group is gone" and what followed? Yeah, I remember watching it on some restream a few days after it happened and it was a nothingburger, the only real notable thing is that he genuinely came across like he was hurt about the fact that he wasn't mentioned at all in the doc.
