Most autistic thing you've purchased lately - c'mon feel the cringe

I paid £250 for an electric toothbrush. It has a light that tells me if I'm using it too hard or not, yay!
I'm going to try the 30 day return, hope it works.

Turns out I can buy electric toothbrushes for under £100 that are just as good. I paid all this money for a stupid app that tracks where the toothbrush goes in your mouth and if you missed any areas.

Garmin Fenix 8 Smartwatch. More expensive than the Apple version of the same thing, probably worse. My hatred of all things Apple post Mac OS X 10.6 won't let me buy the square status symbol.

Can't wait to see my stats and add them to the homelab grafana instance alongside all my vehicles exported stats and home assistant stats.

Seemed apt for this thread.

A new shaving machine to trim my crusty neckbeard because I felt my current one was a bit finicky sometimes. The reason I chose a... what brand is it, don't know, it's black, was because some geezer wrote a review that said it's almost as good as his Hitachi from 1981 but sadly the hitachi kicked the bucket recently. Overall he's happy with the new one but it's not quite 1981 Hitachi quality.

If I had to buy a smartwatch, it would be a Garmin.

Not tied to the apple ecosystem, looks better and comes in multiple sizes plus some version are almost completely autonomous with solar charging if you turn off GPS.

I would like a bearded dragon or leo gecko. Not sure if I can source live insect food in my area though
Leopard geckos are absolute sweethearts, I had one many years ago and he was a lovely boy, very personable reptiles. I can't say anything about bearded dragons having never had one though but they seem to have quite a sweet personality also from what acquaintences have said about theirs (and videos online).

I suppose ordering insects online would be too pricey unless you were doing so in bulk, which isn't viable unless you had a lot of reptiles.

I bought a spice rack.

I'm officially a spice rack person.

I don't even like cooking.
I put up a spice rack in my kitchen and use it to hold medication bottles, but I already had a spice rack for spices in the cabinet. It's a retro one that says "~spices~" on it, so it's le funny visual joke to use it for ibuprofen.

I'm not even a lizard person, although I do love frogs, but I have considered a terrarium for my office just to keep green present in the winter. I would drastically outlive a turtle, but have considered lizards and frogs. I would prefer multiple compatible small animals to one large one, but I have taken no action on this. I recently cleaned my office, so maybe I'll look into making it a reality.

This is an impressive amount of autism to work into three sentences, my hat is off to you.

The last few weeks had me caring more about data storage and archiving data than ever before. That’s why I’ve been doing nothing but being blank discs for CD and DVD purposes, as well not searching in the market for Western Digital and Seagate hard drives.

In the next few weeks, I’m thinking about getting blank Blu-Ray discs and a driver/Blu-Ray player just for convenience sake. The only downside is that I wish I did this almost a few years ago.

You can buy them freezer dried insects, or pellets:

Arguably any gecko or bearded dragon you purchase at a pet store, is most likely used to eating pellets than live food (which is more expensive).

I own turtles, I've always have to train them to learn how to eat live food (the only turtle I ever owned that already knew how to eat live food, was a slider I purchased on the streets of Chinatown). Heck, I still have a few turtles that haven't gotten the hang of bloodworms 🤦‍♀️

Welcome to the club. I’ve got almost 300tb of local storage now and it feels good. Physical media is life.

Thread tax - I can’t find the post but someone here recommended a really nice single dart blaster, the Fire Rat, and it arrived today. Why? 🤷‍♂️ why not I guess. Also got the D&D edition of Clue and the Twin Peaks : Z to A collection. That sort of a weekend.
