A few (hundred) pages ago I called out people who wanted subreddits banned. Thanks to some enlightening posts, and a few insulting ones, I've narrowed down my point to something less autistically spergy...except this preposition.

Anyway. Internet free speech should be protected at all costs. Corporate funded speech should be silenced with extreme prejudice.

If reddit returns to an open forum of forums, where people are free to discuss whatever ideas they want - good and bad, then that would be super. The paid-for shills parroting acceptable lines is not acceptable.
I would support that. But the people who have trampled free speech for going on 8 years, or even longer if you count the rise of PC speech in the early 2010s are too entrenched. It takes a hard stance to return to a point where what you said could even be implemented. A harsh smack to them is needed right now.
I don't want leftist speech censored. What else would i laugh at than DesTiny or Hasan's insane views and communism simping?

Good to know he hasn't improved in the... christ, 15 years it's been? since I watched him.
Wow he's got a more storied media presence than I initially thought. I mix him up with Peter Coffin and Ian McConnell all the time, so I just assumed he was another random soy with a one hit wonder. They make these fucking people in a factory, I swear.

It would be interesting to see how corporate-funded talking points had an effect on the community, to the point where real people were parroting the corporate views to fit in.
We all know what social pressure does within a peer-group. Would annihiliating corporate-funded speech correct the course or, as you say, a severe smack would be required?

Maybe we can meet half-way and just burn reddit to the ground and allow a natural alternative to rise from the ashes?

Donald Trump demands the 2nd Amendment be protected

"Within 30 days of the date of this order, the Attorney General shall examine all orders, regulations, guidance, plans, international agreements, and other actions of executive departments and agencies (agencies) to assess any ongoing infringements of the Second Amendment rights of our citizens, and present a proposed plan of action to the President, through the Domestic Policy Advisor, to protect the Second Amendment rights of all Americans."

He also effectively ordered the DoJ to start losing cases where the laws infringe on 2nd Amendment

"The positions taken by the United States in any and all ongoing and potential litigation that affects or could affect the ability of Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights;"
There were a lot of doomers this past week saying Trump wouldn't do this.

Lolcow Bex Gerber says Treasury now reads KF.

So how do I talk to the Treasury guy here? The IRS keeps sending me nastygrams about a tax bill I paid years ago, have proof I paid years ago, and the website and everyone I talk to at the IRS says it's a system glitch and I shouldn't be getting these, but they still keep adding late fees and interest penalties on the supposed owed amount, all on IRS stationery and not a scam, just a "glitch."

I feel like it's a bad use of my tax dollars to send certified letters to people like me who don't actually owe back taxes, and it sure freaks a person out to receive a notice like that. Even more fun if it happens in front of family and friends when the mail carrier makes you sign for it. I have low level anxiety that these "we will seize your assets" notices will end up resulting in $12k being wiped from my accounts and I'll have to sue to get it back from these morons. Please fire them and/or disband the entire IRS, so that taxpaying, family-having Americans like me who worked their way up from poverty and into a high bracket...the exact kind of thing America wants to encourage...don't have to live in fear of this agency's "mistakes" and "glitches" wiping out assets and savings.

Edward Coristine, if you're really here, getting rid of little glitches like that would be a real boon to real people.

(I know, I know, DOGE is not my personal army...)

Hi Mr. Glowie, how goes the subversion of all that is right and good with the world? Is this a fulfilling job for you? Is targeting Internet shitposters what you thought you'd be doing for the government to serve everyday Americans and help keep people safe?
Think long and hard about whether your oath to uphold and preserve the Constitution means you must follow Snowden's example.

The feds are coming for reddit. Apparently.
Now i like free speech. I do feel some sympathy for them. But then i remember they would show no quarter to me or any right winger at all, and happily piss on you while a government goon is beating you. Some people have to learn a hard lesson in why free speech is important for both sides.

On one hand it'll be nice to see them squirm and scatter for once like they've been doing to us but then it makes it harder to farm salt, so it's up in the air.

We told them there would come a day when the sword they had wielded with impunity would be turned against them. I have no sympathy. Holding people to the rules and standards they demanded the world conform too is no vice. A principled stand would have been viable a decade ago. At this point the only thing I want is these people to be subjected to the rules they implemented. Maybe after a few years being beaten like dogs, they will realize we had a point.

EO announcing sanctions on South Africa and talking about resettling refugees here. I'm sure Whitehouse website will have better version soon.

I can't wait to hear from leftists how AKSHUALLY this isn't any of the USA's business and how those are not valid refugees to take in because mu Apartheid 32 years ago.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Friday said he will temporarily block the Trump administration from placing 2,200 employees of the U.S. Agency for International Development on paid leave.

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, who was nominated by President Donald Trump, sided with two federal employee associations in agreeing to a pause in plans to put the employees on paid leave as of midnight Friday.

The workers associations argue that Trump lacks the authority for his swift dismantling of a six-decade-old aid agency enshrined in congressional legislation.
Ironic.
