Another that could be considered a space opera title would be the Marvel Comics Epic imprint series Alien Legion. I've read the whole series, including the later series from Titan that was supposed to have been published by Dark Horse.

If you're not opposed to superhero stuff, the entire Annihilation saga was probably the last good thing that Marvel comics produced.
I've recently read Dan Abnett's Guardians run which I believe was a follow-up to Annihilation. Abnett's writing made me want to slit my wrists. (DID YOU KNOW MOONDRAGON IS A LESBIAN?!?!?!?!?!!?) The art was okay. Well-drawn figures, terrible paneling/layouts. Is the actual Annihilation event better than his Guardians run?

The original Annihilation event is faster paced, more action packed and epic feeling. It's also more of Keith Giffen's creation, with some help from Abnett & Lanning. I'd also suggest first reading #7 - 14 of the 2004 Thanos series that Giffen did, it serves as a set-up for some of the Annihilation stuff (#1 - 6 of the Thanos series was done by Jim Starlin and not really related).

The sequel, Annihilation Conquest, is more Abnett & Lanning's creation with some help form Giffen, then after that Abnett & Lanning mostly take over.

I'm not familiar with much of Abnett's comic work, but I genuinely liked his run of Sinister Dexter for 2000AD.

Its actually kinda amazing how much Abnett's run on Guardians cribs from Warhammer 40k. (And, given how critical he is of the Imperium stand-ins, also should have served as a warning not to trust him with the Siege of Terra. I'll let Warhammer fans explain how badly he fucked over the lore in that shitshow.)

Uh-oh.

Seriously, fuuuuuuuuuuuck off with this garbage.

Another sign of how desperate the "House of Ideas" is, even moreso than before.

Place your bets, what will this story actually involve:

Bringing her back to make her Spider-Gwen

A complete fake-out

Someone is actually going to steal her corpse

Actually, bringing her back but sans spider powers, or any other type of powers

Oh, what's the strategy here, besides the usual Marvel strategy of the past several years of "ramming repeatedly into a big brick wall with a big DON'T sign on it"

Is Norman Osborne gonna fuck her again? Or are her and MJ going to get together and double cuck Peter? What terrible idea do they have in mind?

I remember Joe Quesada's original idea for One More Day was to reset Peter's life back to college and bring back Gwen, so that he could 'restore' the Betty and Veronica dynamic (that never actually existed) between MJ and Gwen vying for Peter. I wonder if this is another attempt at that retarded shit.

Has anyone here been keeping up with Spider-Gwen? I really liked vol.1 but gave up somewhere in the middle of volume two when it basically became misery porn and seemed to detest the idea of being a superhero book. Did it get any better? Are they still trying to push Miles and Gwen, even though it's pretty inappropriate for their comic versions (and I think the original Spider-Gwen writer tried his best to downplay and avoid it)?
