this idiot somehow managed to get triple locked pawns in one game. I've literally never seen that happen before. even the shittiest of shitters don't do that. sure they'll double lock them, but triple? insane. that shit requires setup, it almost has to be intentional. then he complains about not having any good moves in that same game while half his available pawns are literally unable to be moved. if it wasn't dsp I'd assume it was an elaborate performance. also it's just an autistic hunch but the way that he handled knights makes me think he didn't understand how they move despite the website showing him every time he clicked on one.

Instead I would half-seriously compare Phil to two other long-time lolcows, Russell Greer and Lucas Werner. As bad as Russell and Lucas are, there's a certain sincerity to their insanity. You KNOW Russell believes if he didn't look like he did, he'd be a successful musician dating the latest e-thot. You KNOW Lucas believes those damn telomeres are important and that age-gap relationships are society's plot against him. Their beliefs are irrational at best, but at least they actually believe them.

I disagree. Phil isn't a complete soulless husk, and he doesn't have the sort of conscious nihilism that characterizes someone like Boogie2988. You bring up Lucas Werner and Russell Greer and mention how despite their derangement they at least genuinely believe the insane things they say, but I think it's the same with Phil. My reading of Phil (as someone who is admittedly only tangentially interested in him) is that he genuinely believes the shit he's spewing; He genuinely thinks he's an excellent video gamer, he genuinely thinks that shit netcode and shit luck is unfairly hampering his stellar gameplay, and he genuinely believes that he's a basically good person who is and was randomly hated upon without due cause. Phil lies about a lot of things, but not about that; Phil (when it comes to interpersonal relationships, video games, and most things in life) honestly just doesn't get it - he's doesn't have the self awareness for it.
You say that Phil has "no shame", but I don't think that's entirely accurate either.
Phil, deep down, is ashamed of his life. Now he may not grasp that it's his own damn fault, but even someone like Phil is cognizant enough to know that his current existence is a pathetic Truman Show hellscape that no sane person would ever want for themselves, regardless of the amount of money it "earns" him. That's why he's so insistent on referring to his fat roommate and housecat as his "family", and why he seems so transfixed on the idea that every detractor is a basement dwelling loser who would be lost without his streams; he's trying to convince himself that he's NOT a loser, that he IS a family man with a legitimate "career", and that the trolls are DEAD WRONG about him.

I still can't believe he got placed at 188 Elo, I've never seen someone be placed that low, even complete beginners who just learned the rules 10 minutes ago would do a better job. It's estimated that the average 6 year old has an Elo of 300.

This is actually one thing that is unique to him and could have been marketed - the guy manages to screw himself in a spectacular way or find a weird bug in most of the games he plays. He could have turned this into a legit fun gaming failures channel with some proper editing and could have likely gotten millions of subscribers.

Now, obviously that didn't happen, but it is still something to consider.

He 100% doesn't believe this shit, you can see it in his street fighter gameplay, its just what he says to cope with loses. He acts bi polar with how fast he can switch between shit netcode existing and not existing or any of his other million excuses for when he loses. This has literally been his default excuse for like 3 console generations worth of gameplay, its his most consistent cope.

Most of what phil seems to believe is likely just cope. Like does he really think the shit he uploads is really that great? probably not, we've watched him not even want to sit through some of the slop he puts out, but it's not like he can be honest about his shit content while trying to beg for money.

I think there is definitely some truth in the claim that "Phil believes in nothing" because most of us for years have watched him change his stance or flip flop under the slightest pressure. The only real exception to this is his ego

I think it's more simple: Phil has crafted his own version of events, one that suits him the most. He will bend the reality to his lies when unfavorable facts come to light. Case in point: him getting fired from Blip. First it was "I just did what Howard Stern did, why do you fire meee?" but it soon morphed into "My trolls massflagged and massreported me to Blip. They are at fault" Much easier for him to live by instead of thinking it was somehow his fault (despite clearcut evidence he personally read out and broadcasted to the Internet that Blip fired him because a) the massive racism in his Dead space 2 videos which were mentioned as "like the Deadspace 2 video" in Blip's mail whicxh sounbds to me as Blip had already collected more cases of this and b) he was frequently violating Blip's ToS in regards to edited videos). So he then concocted the massive lie that he was only fired becausde trolls reported only his "Hello Jew!" And he does it witrh everything. All to avoid the nagging thought "Maybe I am at fault here?"

-He doesn't understand how to install mods or how to actually download them (Try not to download 5 big mods at the same time Phil)
-Can't troubleshoot any of his software when Windows runs an update against his consent
-Still doesn't understand Steam Sales exist for the express purpose of actually buying games when they are 50% off. Fucking GTA IV GOTY was like 5 dollars a couple weeks ago because of one, and I snagged all three Arkham games for like 10 dollars on a recent sale.
-Related to the above topic, buying games full price.
