But one died, so is still on point.>thread about watching people die
>save people instead
Task failed successfully.
Reminds me of this, shot in 2004 at Tyne Cot cemetery in Belgium. The Veteran visiting the graves was 106 Years Old.I've been to the somme memorials and its just fields of gravestones. Like, so many its ridiculous. Tragic waste of life.
No, all 3 lived. 1 was fine and got out on his own, but the other 2 were stuck in the wreck and severely hurt. But one died, so is still on point.
106 years old and still feeling the lost of his comrades 86-90 years later.Reminds me of this, shot in 2004 at Tyne Cot cemetery in Belgium. The Veteran visiting the graves was 106 Years Old.
Part of that was how we processed the trauma. Harry, then only 19, was part of a Lewis Gun team, the five man team growing incredibly close during their time in combat at Passchendaele and Pilckem Ridge. On September 22nd 1917, while walking across no mans land the team was hit by an artillery round killing 3 of them and critically wounding Harry. Harry refused to deal with this loss for the next 80 years, never speaking about the war and developing a deep hatred of Germans, refusing to ever meet on again. It was only when, at the age of 100, his PTSD was triggered by a flashing light bulb (reminding him of artillery flashes) that Harry began opening up about his wartime experience. This particular clip was from a document on WWI veterans, in it the film crew take Harry back to the Western Front and have him meet a 107 year old German Artillerymen who fired onto Harry's sector at Pilckem Ridge. When asked if he still held it against the Artilleryman it was then, 87 years to the day after it happened, Harry admitted he no longer harbored any hatred towards him and was able to let go of some of the pain. The documentary concludes with him returning to spot his friends had been killed (something he refused to do previously) and laying a reef in their honor, finally bringing him some closure.106 years old and still feeling the lost of his comrades 86-90 years later.
It is so heart-breaking.
Pretty impressive for a centennial.laying a reef in their honor

Reminds me of the video of WW2 veterans meeting each other and they harbor no ill will for each other since war is war. After one of their meetings in a restaurant, they went: (timestamped link)Snip
