Never understood why people cared about her at all honestly. Very basic Breadtube Feminist media studies 101 crap by a overeager dunning kruger Uni student. People like Thunderf00t were pumping out daily videos on her for years
Its pretty simple, and was pretty simple even from the beginning.
She was creating videos that were extremely lacking in logical arguments to put it mildly, with the general gist of her angles being either "This game does not forcibly prevent you from killing women, therefore it encourages it" or "I have intentionally interpreted this shit in bad faith in the most retardedly sexist way imaginable, and this bullshit interpretation is 1000% the factual and objective truth" of straight up lying about games rewarding players for killing or raping women. There was also a heavy amount of "boys smelly, girls special" chauvinism at play with her schtick about how games lacked inherently female values like cooperation and love and nurturing and caring, but this faded into the background I suspect due to the rapid rise of the troon wave making gender essentialism taboo in her sphere. In general the cawntent was smugly ignorant at best, and at worst downright deceitful calls for mass censorship for the sake of her cringe ass "pure womanhood" schtick.
This in and of itself would cause her to become a target for criticism and mockery. Hell just putting any opinion out there would cause her to become a target for criticism and mockery, but posting shit that was both overtly disingenuous while also pushing for what in 2012ish were still anathema to the internet masses, i.e. censorship and overbearing moralism......fuck I just made myself sad....and targeting things that people loved and enjoyed, worked to make her cawntent especially unpopular among those who bothered to take a look, and those hearing second hand about her.
Next however came her reaction to criticism, i.e. explicitly declaring it all to be bigoted harassment and using the excuse of obvious trolls sending edgetard threats (
as they had done so to literally everyone who got any amount of internet attention since the 90s) to declare her life to be in danger and there to be a massive misogynist terrorist conspiracy against her, necessitating that her critics be actively censored by media and institutions.
Obviously this overt act of both smearing critics as hateful degenerates and gleefully if not knowingly feeding the trolls with loudly performed reactions of faux horror made her reputation online a hell of a lot worse, but what 100% turned her from annoying lolcow to genuinely despised scumbag and internet pinata for early anti-SJW youtubers was the media's fawning coverage of her and her cawntent and repeating of her claims that all dissent and critique were vile harassment campaigns, which was then coupled with a sprawl of self declared "geek" celebrities (
most notably Joss Whedon....fucking lol) loudly signalling their virtue by declaring total agreement with everything she said and denouncing her critics as sexist monster harassers as well as throwing buckets of tax deductible donations her way to fund a suspicious lack of cawntent going forwards.
As the past decade+ has taught us, having the whole media and a bunch of celebrities all smash down hard at a group for basic criticism and mockery of someone or something that has been deemed some kind of sacred cow, and rapidly going to increasingly absurd extremes to smear and demonise said group as ever more dangerous and degenerate and despicable as well as to punish any non-anon person who is aligned with said group or even is merely sympathetic to said group, is a recipe for downright
generational hatred among those being targeted and will drive many in their number straight up fanatical in firing back as hard as they can unless they actively wean themselves off the sauce.
