Bob Chipman / Robert Lewis Chipman / MovieBob / Game OverThinker - "Coastal Elite Thinker" who wants conservatives, Christians and manual workers eradicated. Universally ignorant; cannot tell reality from sci-fi. Sore loser with short fuse. Odious Disney shill. Tranny chaser and general creep. Fat and diabetic.

You know, if Bob stuck with the Game Overthinker format and made some longer form video essays about the themes of Super Mario Sunshine or whatever the fuck, he'd probably be decently successful and get some good views. The YouTube gaming video essayist space is full of hacks who are shit at it, just yap for revenue, and who are pretty much on Bob's level or actually even lower ability-wise, especially on the more lefty side of the spectrum.

One thing that really bugged me about the Star Trek TNG episode The Measure of A Man is Captain Phillipa Louvois, the Judge Advocate General for sector 23 at Starbase 173, said, and I quote, "I'm hoping to MAKE some good law out here". Like, WHAT?! Doesn't Starfleet already HAVE Laws?!
In their defense, it's not uncommon for people to say a big case "makes case law." Even though it doesn't literally "make" a law, it provides the precedent for how courts will treat the issue in the future. You can say that as a turn of phrase without literally meaning "judges are the ones who create laws."

Also, Starfleet might work different as a legal system. Idk. Television shows tend to play very fast and loose with the realities of the legal system because IRL it's very boring and takes a long time.
ah yes, the infamous "Shadows and penumbras" clause of the US Constitution [/sarcasm]
View attachment 6968622
"Emanations from a penumbra" or to put it in modern terms, ">the implication." This reasoning was never going to last, and RBG, the patron saint of abortion and its last defender, knew it was terrible legal logic. Dems had one of the only supermajoritys in recent history under Obama, and never once did they bother to codify Roe v Wade. Either because they were so arrogant they thought they never needed to, or because they wanted to hold abortion hostage forever so they could make people vote for them forever.

Hell, even under Biden, they probably could have gotten "common sense" abortion protections passed, like a bill that always allows it if the mother's life is in danger. Something both parties would agree on and pass without much struggle. But again, they needed a hostage to negotiate for.

Dummies like Bob really don't realize establishment democrats are the real reason they never get anything they want.

Too much effort. He can't even be bothered to do Really That Good anymore. He wouldn't bother doing it on a 3D Mario game, blasphemy to him, especially one where Mario's stuck on an island where the inhabitants treat him like a criminal and force him to do free labor.

He probably didn't even play it, though it's not as if that ever stopped him from making a video on a game.

I'm offended by the fact that The MovieBob got a NordVPN sponsorship. If I ever needed a VPN I would specifically avoid them knowing that they've seen MovieBob's content and said, "Yes, we want to associate ourselves with this."
To be fair, Nord gives out a sponsor to everyone for their mid tier VPN. Blob is probably just another revenue stream to them.

Moviebob: "I [...] believe in means testing, in as much as people who [...] have failed their 'Don't be mean' test [...] can be disposed of."

If anyone reading Bob's comment here works in the health care industry, you can accurately infer that Moviebob, who fails the "don't be mean" test multiple times per day, should be denied all future health care coverage and the benefits therein.

If Kamala Harris had half the brain and guts of Andy Harris, she would have been the first American woman president.
The very thought that Commie Harris could have been "president" just...

[2025.02.11-08]

Moviebob: "A BIG WALL only make sense if you there's there's some huge [...] wave of bad guys rushing the line, and that isn't happening."

Reality: If 5,000 foreign invaders are allowed to step onto American soil from Mexico each day, that means there are no fewer than 1,825,000 crossings per year (7,305,000 per four-year presidential term)--and each one has already committed a crime simply by crossing the border without proper documentation. Once again, Moviebob's inability to math is a direct result of Moviebob's inability to brain.

As a side note, "orc wearing a red cap" sounds an awful lot like Moviebob, being a Red Sox fan and all...

funny, the Strait of Juan De Fuca got renamed "The Salish Sea" unilaterally by some marine biologist in Washington State, and British Columbia accepted it uncritically.

About Bob's new video where he tells you to consoom more movies and doesn't like how much YouTube supposedly rewards negativity, first of all, criticism is good because it helps us improve. I would have no problem with having even my favorite things be criticized. Second, Moviebob has followed and supported extremely negative people who hated nearly everything such as the FemFreq folks. Third, I am someone who works hard for a living and doesn't want to waste money on bad entertainment. Fourth, I'm a fan of several maligned games, including but not limited to:

Hydlide
Magical Doropie
NES Dragon's Lair
Trevor McFur
Cosmic Race
Simple 2000
Sukeban Shachou Rena
Gran Turismo 7
PS Vita/Vita TV
WonderSwan
Atari Consoles
Sega Consoles
NEC Consoles
Virtual Boy

And I'm used to hearing negative criticisms for them. I wouldn't think of ever taking away people's right to express their opinions about these games/consoles that they have and still do. The world doesn't revolve around you, so either ignore it or suck it up and roll with the punches. Nothing's stopping these games from existing, or me from liking them, or Red Viper emulator getting invented for Virtual Boy, or me from critiquing something they like. Also even good things are disliked by someone, and other careers such as maintaining restaurants have it much worse. The logic of "negativity bad" only applies if you are immature and only care about waiting for the next product.

True. But some of even Siskel & Ebert's best moments were times when they didn't merely criticize films, they tore into them like hungry lions on a zebra carcass.

I would have no problem with having even my favorite things be criticized.
Agreed. Sometimes, others' opinions might open your eyes to something you didn't previously notice about them.

Second, Moviebob has followed and supported extremely negative people who hated nearly everything such as the FemFreq folks.
No surprise. For being such a great Thinker™, Moviebob's mind is easily manipulatable without resistance.

Third, I am someone who works hard for a living and doesn't want to waste money on bad entertainment.
Nobody likes spending money on dull entertainment, let alone bad entertainment.

Fourth, I'm a fan of several maligned games, including but not limited to:

Hydlide
Magical Doropie
The Krion Conquest for us in America.
NES Dragon's Lair
Trevor McFur
Cosmic Race
Simple 2000
Sukeban Shachou Rena
Gran Turismo 7
PS Vita/Vita TV

I can't comment on many of them as I have no experience with them. That said, my brother got me a Nintendo 64 controller for the Nintendo Switch Online service. I can understand others' criticism about the N64 controller's three-pronged design when it debuted, and it sometimes feels awkward to hold unless I angle it slightly toward my right. That said, whenever I actually use the N64 controller, it still feels rather comfortable to use for lengthy play sessions.

The logic of "negativity bad" only applies if you are immature and only care about waiting for the next product.
Solid advice.

Whenever critics are too positive about everything, it makes people suspicious that they might be shilling for benefits just like game reviewers who get opulent things like helicopter rides and hotel resorts in exchange for good reviews. Moviebob is the guy who introduced me to the concept of "Sturgeon's Law" which is that 90% (or more) of everything is bad. How negative! Yet it makes sense and any trustworthy critic can apply that standard without being a complete blame-all blockhead.

Bob's pathetic little gay speech in the last clip is essentially just a more verbose version of this meme.

He's being quite pigheaded on the YouTube algorithm even though it's very simple to understand. The algorithm recommends you shit based on your previous viewing habits. If the lardass is so frightened of people offering criticism on his goyslop, then all he has to do is ignore it, and it'll eventually recommend him videos more to his taste.

It's funny that in the video, Bob admits he still considers himself a medium sized youtuber. I bet he's not really on the site any more because if he actually paid attention to view counts, he'd realize just how outclassed he is by everyone else.

And yeah, that might be the new for his views. A year ago, 30k wasn't too bad for him and a really good video hit 50k. Then six months ago, 20k was the norm and 30k was a good video. I mean, this one might hit 20k but that's starting to become rarer for Bob. Nine years ago, 200k was the norm. He's aware, but as others have pointed out, his Reckless Positivity video was just him coping over why he's not doing as well as he used to.

It can't be that he was cancelled, that's a myth. It can't be that other critics have better production values than he does, everything he does is professional by his standards. It can't be that they resonate with the crowds better, only he and people he agrees with are allowed to appeal to the masses. It can't be because they support each other, his friends never supported him and so that must not be a factor. It can't be because they go on each other's shows to talk about topics they enjoy and promote themselves, once you gain an audience you don't need to work to keep them or expand them, you just magically gain one.

No, it all has to be someone else's fault. And now that he has the algorithm, he has the perfect scapegoat.
