Ok, people booing at Taylor Swift is kind of funny, since it's essentially a pop star, whose appeal lies almost
exclusively among the female audience, appearing during the motherfucking super bowl to watch american football, a sport that not only has almost an exclusive appeal to men, but it's a sport that is almost exclusively played by men, barring a few female leagues which nobody watches.
Mixing Swift among the audience of a bunch of sweaty men obsessed with football was like mixing oil with water. It's honestly a surprise these sports fans don't have heavier clap back against pop music dominating the half-shows of their games.
And considering the audience for sports, it makes sense that there is a bit of an anti-woke sentiment there as well, but what has me confused is how the exact same audience was cheering during Kendrick Lamar's half-time show, even shouting "a minoooor" in unison, a whole arena of people... People were cheering on a black rapper... a black rapper from motherfucking Compton that wears his inspiration from gangster rap on his sleeve. How the fuck is this a loss for wokeness?
On top of that, the guy had made a song where he's strongly supportive of his
transgender aunt and cousin and his latest album release, proudly presents
female spanish vocals in his music. How the fuck did he not get booed?
So... no, I do not buy the fact that it is the sign of wokeness ending. Maybe it will lead to a new "disco demolition night" for modern pop music (as optimistic as it sounds), but otherwise, this event seems to signify to me how a grand majority of people are just NPCs when it comes to political issues and nobody knows wtf being woke means. It reminds me how Israel got booed during last year's eurovision for it's war in Palestine, people were yelling that it should've been barred like Russia, but nobody seemed to have given a single fuck that Armenia and Azerbaijan were technically still at war while participating. They were in a ceasefire, but still. Two countries that participated in Eurovision were at war and nobody seemed to have noticed or cared, purely because it wasn't appealing for the "culture war" discourse.
That's the same vibe I'm getting from seeing the same people cheering on Kendrick Lamar when they previously were cheering on Donald Trump. It validates my view that a grand majority of people discussing politics don't have any actual political opinions of their own and just parrot whatever they saw somebody else say.
