The F-35 program is massively bloated, because it's basically three aircraft, and they are hanger queens, but the fair, if you will, comparison would be flight hours and aircraft. There's under 200 F-22s, there's a least a 1,000 F-35s. The F-35 has its issues, but a lot of harshest critics are either on Boeing's payroll or work for organizations funded by Boeing. The F-32 lost the competition fair and square and given Boeing's recent track record it's a good thing they did. They're still incredibly salty about it, but imagine the issues with the F-35 on an ugly airframe with Pajeet programming.
