I remember seeing this a while back on /co/, there's a lot of other AUs of AUs on there, I'm surprised it ever got a comic but I remember it also being a spic twitter thing
It's not a troon thing, it's a spic thing (edit: or if the author is a troon, than it's more of a spic thing than a troon thing) Harem AUs, or AUs where the main character gets together with a different girl(s) are a pretty common trope in latin american fandoms, and the new girl(s) are almost always orginal characters. It's a dime a dozen, stock even, and personally I'm not really surprised or shocked despite how weird the premise is. Off the top of my head I remember Danny Phantom but Danny gets together with the black girl and Rio but the main character has a bird harem both come to mind but pretty much every co-equivlent spic fandom has something like this in one form or the other.
You beat me to it! I opened the site to find a specific old comic and was greeted to that Dobson-level rant, then came here to post it. Even the description does that tone-deaf “it doesn’t matter what political affiliation you have, but you should totally donate to this democratic socialist group”. I was considering catching up on everything I missed, but nah, I’m good.
I think that’s when I stopped reading, too. I also stopped reading Nerf Now when he did nothing but post DOTA for way too long (when he wasn’t passive-aggressively ranting about the Switch’s success) but I looked up some of the newer strips last week and it’s pretty darn good.
She’s done that since the beginning. Even her Pokemon comics from over a decade ago have her dressed as the male trainer while Norrin is the female trainer.
It was a Mass Effect comic I was thinking of. I could have sworn I checked them but I guess not. Good to know I wasn't the only on who remembered it:

It's funny that she's never really done much like this before, but I guess she got pressured into it.
She’s done it quite a few times in past hourly comics (another reason I stopped reading) but it was always limited to one panel of “the heckin’ news is le bad”. This was the first time to my knowledge she ever went on a full rant mid-comic. I feel like she did that in a description once but I don’t remember exactly.
