Troonslop "Retro" Games / Demake games / PS1 Trannies / ULTRAKILL / Y2K trannies - Retro gaming is infected

Buckshot Roulette and Mouthwashing were good, but I don't see how they became internet-breaking viral successes. Turns out they're both under this publishing company:

I might just be tinfoil hatting (Buckshot Roulette may have been acquired after the original game came out and got popular), but this might be another Annapurna/Mintrocket-esque astroturfing situation.

This isn't a conspiracy, this is just the state of "indie" games marketing. The vast majority of indie successes are such due to being backed by publishers w/ good marketing connections (knows gaming youtubers, can get traction on social media, etc.)

Looked up Annapurna and it's impressive how they can exist for so long despite publishing 99% shit.
Still. The shill thing makes complete sense.
Most of those games got a noticable confusing bump in coverage.
Also I still find it hilarious that Nexon imitated an indie game simply by making the art shit and the plot "quirky and relatable".

that's their strategy, give backing to a large amount of shitty games, even if each one makes relatively little profit, u still come out on top

also it gives a boost to their reputation as "the guys that get ur shitty game to sell a zillion copies"

Its all too common with indie devs. if the first game is still popular and producing a stream of revenue years later from steam sales good luck seeing devs get off their ass.
Ironically, the 'Give us money so we can do more stuff!' messaging that indie devs preach is rarely true. If they're only getting enough to get by, they'll be working the hardest. But as soon as they get enough cash to lay on, then I hope you're ready for multi-year-long hiatuses with pretty much nothing to show for it. At best, they'll come back like 5 years later to drop a low effort grift to extract more money.

It's rare for an actual solo-dev to make a game that goes big, any indie game that went viral was guaranteed to have a lot of connections around it, visible or not. I guarantee that when the next viral rpg earthbound inspired toonslop comes out in a few years, the creator will have a very long history of personally glazing Toby Shekels and Chomocat.

i'd like to know more about that
I'm guessing it's related to Dave the Diver (Mintrocket) and Stray (Annapurna). Both those games were suspiciously felated by a suspicious amount of people, especially journos, though I'm still not entirely sure. Digging into these two studios, Mintrocket isn't some random indie studio but was created and funded by the multi-million dollar Nexon, not to mention DtD was pushed hard (look at the amount of awards it was nominated for despite only ever winning one).
Annapurna Interactive has a lot of games under its belt (publisher-wise at least) but I guess the astroturfing situation he means is with Stray and how hard that was pushed despite being a "Reddit game." Both these games don't have much going for it but all over the internet journos and other "influences" covered it, the amount of awards it was nominated for and even won is insane for a game I never hear about organically. Not on plebbit, not on dicksword, not on 4chan, not on this site, nowhere. Which isn't strange to see literal "who" games pop up out of nowhere as the best game ever despite no one hearing or caring about it. Remember Cocoon? Because I sure don't.
All over the internet I saw people go "what the fuck is Cocoon?" NO ONE knew what the fuck this game was. Poor Pizza Tower man, robbed constantly, remember it losing to TLOU1 for "best soundtrack?" They can't win, the Game Awards is rigged as hell and the Steam Awards is filled with normies. Oh, right, astroturfing. Yeah if some random game you never heard of it getting jerked off by all sorts of influencers you better believe there's some bullshit going on in the background. If you want another example of more recent astroturfing, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. INB4 rent free.

I constantly hear about games that everyone supposedly loves that then disappear the following week from everyone's collective mind. Gaming channels have immense astroturfing power, they appear as a relatable fellow gamer with millions of dumb kids watching them. Despite what these youtubers will say, I wouldn't be surprised if their channels main source of income comes from being paid by publishers to do a playthroughs of their products. AAA companies will do the generic route of buying ads on buses and videos where as indies larp as smol beanie creators who are actually buying out as many forms of media and people to do covert advertising for them.

A bit thunkprovoking but it's Fake Indie where it's indie because there isn't a giant developer team that can be consider AAA or AA. But this is the truth that i bring up to friends of mine that most of these indie games are backed by a publisher and some are backed by big publishers.

Exactly. It's pushed until the people push get what they want (probably money from investments), and then they stop pushing and suddenly it fucking dies. Because you can't have shit like that grow inorganically and have it survive when no one talked about it naturally.

Very recently I got reminded about a funny tidbit that happened like 5 years ago -

OneShot is an indie top-down RPGMaker game made way back in 2014 and remade/updated a few times, I played the game and liked it but I haven't touched it since 2019, community is absolutely horrific mess of furries, SPEDs, and troons that I've had the misfortune of attempting to interact with way back in the past but this doesn't concern them at the moment.

Anyway there's photos out there from 2020 of one of the head developers who goes by Eliza Velasquez online uploading a video and a photo of himself cremating their own balls and sharing photos of the remains of them they turned into earrings. Honestly not really surprised their community is like this considering this was how one of the devs turned out, and I'm kinda surprised there isn't more out there about their antics.

not listening to this bc it might hypnotize me into transitioning
Do you really think audio can fucking alter your state or is that just a shitpost?

Oh god it's already been over 10 years since that game and I've never gotten around to playing it despite friends recommending me it. 2020 does not feel like 5 years ago either but yeah, stagnant time distortion hell is a lesser evil than becoming warped by the things causing the distortions and unironically joining in perpetrating and perpetuating the rot and somehow also chopping your valuables off for twitter/reddit clout

What do you guys think it is that separates games like Ultrakill from games like Dusk? Both are both trying to do roughly the same thing, being modern interpretations of old-school shooters. But Ultrakill somehow ended up gaining the most faggy fanbase of any shooter and Dusk has remained somewhat of a sleeper hit with a relatively small fanbase.

A friend bought me Ultrakill and then a year later trooned out, why does this game attract trannies like flies to shit?

We also stopped bullying nerds at around the same time. What a coincidence...
Nah, I think that "transgender" movement was "astroturfed". Had that not happened, there could have been a timeline where "geeks" were bullied less and did not "troon out".

Autists weren't encouraged to troon by parents and troon gangs online back then.
There's also some article that is on the internets called "Who Are the Rich, White Men Institutionalizing Transgender Ideology?" BTW.

Some coomers believe that "sissy hypnosis" has an effect on them, though hypnosis only works when someone lulls you into a state of extreme relaxation, not when you see words flashing on a screen or hear someone whispering about having sex with men. It's debated if hypnosis is even real or just relies on myth.
