Only problem with this plan is the other provinces will want to join the US, less they bare more abuse, and suffer more exploitation by Ottawa. At some point it makes more sense to annex all of Canada, half of Canada (say Manitoba to the pacific), or most likely none of Canada. I'd wager Trump not annexing anything. If worse comes to worse, Canada becomes a failed state, he can always order the military to drive over the border, and establish a puppet regime. Not like the laurentian elite can do anything about it right now, let alone in a failed nation scenario.

Everytime I think about starting anew, some strange sense of slavish loyalty to the country and my family here impedes my plan. I rarely get along with the majority of my family, stemming from our stark differences; likewise, all I feel is contempt for the government and the political parties ruining the country, and yet, I continuously feel these horrible pangs at every turn. I suppose that's the case for many people stuck in dire situations—accepting the punishment, or bowing your head, is far easier than taking action. I'm curious if anyone else shares this sentiment.

Canada could not care less about you and wants you gone. Family, one day things change if not already. If they cared about you or held you in as high esteem as you do them they'd be fine with you bugging out before you get bugged out.
