PL; I'm currently in this number. My Appalachian hillshack has been without power for 14 hours and the estimate is it won't come back til 11p Friday.

We also have musk capable of restructuring shit. Firing people isn't the issue, the equipment, the supplies, trucks, helicopters, ect, all exist. And It would be plenty easy for musk to move people around to get thing done in an emergency. Especially if its just bare minimum shit like distributing supplies

Appalachian power company alone is reporting about 127,000 outages, and Dominion is reporting around 37,000.

He is ALSO tasked with restructuring, IE rolling roles from USAID into other govt functions. Given this, he could easily roll femas responsibilities into national guard or some shit. Pretty sure they could handle it just fine.
worrying about firings making it impossible to render aid is stupid, trump, his people, elon or WHOEVER, could just get some people to get it done. The branch, organization, ect, doesn't fucking matter, could be national guard doing it. Nobody is going to complain that assistance is coming from national guard and NOT from fema. Rescues and emergency rice isn't "better" because it comes from fema.
Essentially the worry could be compared to a restaurant firing the dishwasher for smoking crack, and everyone FREAKING OUT that no dishes will get washed, without realizing that the line cook, a server, or a prep guy could easily wash the dishes in their stead. Its maybe not the long term MOST EFFICIENT, but it can totally be sufficient til you get one that doesn't smoke crack.

Might be earlier. My dinky town had a epic storm and we were left without power for 3 days. Literally everyone in the vicinty of my house had emergency generators running. They said 4 initially. There's always hope.
