Not the Abrams, and sooooort of the Bradleys. The Bradley is... fuck I forget the technical term, but the US has dropped all requirements from Bradley contractors to maintain the ability to produce new vehicles (that was a mistake for the contractors. imagine the sales now) and requires the Army to have a plan for its phase out, but there isn't viable replacement yet so it is still being deployed and assigned to armored units until said replacement appears. (before anyone starts: the Stryker is an APC not an IFV).Frankly it would have been cheaper to hawk our stored tanks and IFVs on Ukraine than to pay to have them melted down for scrap.
That gear is nearing the end of its useful life anyway. How much longer are thousands of baseline M1A1's gonna be useful?
There is also a requirement to maintain stocks of both as "just in case" reserves.
But both vehicles are valuable for the highquality steel used intheir construction if nothing else.
Now shit like ATACMS, Himars, etc - ammo with a shelf life, yes that stuff it is much cheaper to transfer to Ukraine than to try to decom because you can't upgrade it or refurb it without remaking the round.
This is a very real & valid concern. It's in my mind too.if he's in a MAGA bubble and ignores professional advice
4-8 years ago I'd have told you with complete confidence it was completely unfounded - Putin was in for a shlonging.
This time, I don't think its the case Trump is high his own MAGA supply, but I'm not as certain. Given he gave the initial ground work to an appeasementist like Kellog and is sending (charitably) isolationist Vance to co-lead the team for initial talks.
Those appointments could be some 1837-D chess play to try Putin feel good and important even as Russia is raked over the coals in the negotiations, but that's too deep into c/hopium territory at this time to seriously consider - though I'm not ruling it out.
Daily reminder the F-15, first flight over 50 years ago, (with upgrades) is still the #2 air superiority fighter in the world.A long fucking time considering we can just refurb them into the latest M1A2 SEP-whatever models unless the hull has started to completely fail.
And of course, if Ukraine grants the USA full basing rights out of say, Odessa, do we now count as a Black Sea power under it?
