Sammie, in her childlike way, has had a seemingly lifelong tendency to live in daydreams that center on romance and the fantasy that she is (or once was) slavishly adored. This is paired with the dopamine addiction fed by posting this nonsense on FB.

Dead Antonio is the perfect focus for this tendency, because she can pretend that (1) she had the perfect love story once , (2) she remains worthy of such a thing, and (3) she has it again with Darnell and the children she’s literally abandoned. Except that when the disappointing day-to-day reality of life with Darnell disrupts the fantasy, she can always refocus on Antonio to self-soothe. Music, movies, and cringe memes about relationships allow her to wallow in this fantasy every possible waking second of her life. We all know that bitch who thinks every love song is about her and her man.

TL;DR Sammie is emotionally immature and spends every possible moment escaping into a fantasy of what her life is or should be.
