I think 'midwit' is the most apt word to describe him. He tends to like games which he perceives as being 'art' and 'quirky', but have pretty much no staying power and are usually indie. KCD2 with its decent budget and large scale already had it in his shit list. The only time he liked something which went against his usual grain was Dark Souls, and that's because not liking that game was considered a serious mark against someone at the time, and this was despite hating Demon's Souls. Over the years he sort of personified that smug reddit effete that helped make even more insufferable whilst also severely degrading his wit and capability to be funny.

I haven't watched this guy in years, even though seeing the clown show that is this second wind shit has been funny. But this is what he's doing now? 5 minutes of video to cover 2 fucking games? The first 30 seconds and the last full minute aren't part of the content. Plus this is what his content has become? He just sounds utterly bored compared to when his ZP videos were actually popular. Even within this one video he manages to wear out jokes that already weren't funny to begin with.
And that's all before his moronic nonsense about trump and elon, as if they've actually had any impact whatsoever on his life. It's been obvious that their failed content collective channel does shit for views with 3/4 of the crap they produce that no one is actually interested in. But I guess he wants to go all in on the virtue signaling retardation and write off half of his audience already.
At this point I think his goose is pretty much done, and if it wasn't already it will be if he continues with this dumb shit.

So disappointing, he's been getting more and more left since he left Australia. Deciding to tie himself to a bunch of useless content creators and then alienating half of your audience for no reason, when second wind crashes and burns and he ends up with one tenth of the audience he had on escapist it will be his own fault.

I think it has more to do with the fact that it's the start of the video unprompted instead of just taking random potshots at political figures as jokes.
My first thought was of Quinton Reviews which another poster also mentioned, but at the same time I don't think much will come of this.

He seethed about Tony Abbott too, but people can't be expected to know about Australian politicians, and that was at least tangentially video game related thanks to Abbott's involvement in Australia's restrictions on game sales.

This isn't even me repeating the classic line, he seemed like he genuinely enjoyed Austrailia. Why'd he move?

Anyway, I suspect that these indignant flails are because Ben knows his time as "big boy games journalist" is coming to an end and these are the last dribbles of spunk before it's back to books that nobody reads.
