It’s like, looking and seeing how much money we actually spent in a globohomo themed attempt at self cucking, now we’re like “if I give you shit, you’re just going to use the money you could’ve spent on it to attempt to cuck your own citizens and put them further at odds with our policy goals”
That's a meme-ish way of putting it, but yes. There's also the problem I see which is that EU countries are starting to "go their own way," to so speak, while getting security guarantees from the US. The US is not going to spend all this money assuring military protection for countries that do not want to align with our values and interests. Germany is free to pursue policies of mass immigration, banning opposition parties, and cancelling elections, but they should not expect any support from the US if they choose that path.

If the Europeans lose US military protection, they are truly on their own and they know deep down they're fucked if that happens; it means austerity. No more free healthcare, no more free education, and no more free lunch. They think they're scared of right-wing political opposition, but what they really should be afraid of are all the people who've known nothing but creature comforts calling for their heads when they have to pay to see a doctor. All that's left at that point is for the Russians to send the tanks in like they did Ukraine.

NIH plans to slash support for indirect research costs, sending shockwaves through science

My older colleagues in scientific community are dead scared of indirect costs cuts, which are costs not related to a project (the janitor, security cost, utilities, salaries); some departments are dependent on a lot of indirect costs (biochemistry is ~55%, chemistry too).

I know the Don likes to leverage before negotiating, but I'm concerned about I pursuing doctorate in genetics soon. With how liberal the biology department can be (they love their DEI initiatives), how screwed am I?

The schools can save tens of millions by shuttering all their DEI offices and firing the useless administrative bloat. If they still need money after doing that, then they can start whining.

Trump has fired a warning shot via his new AG Bondi

He's challenging a old'ish ruling (Humphrey's v Exector 1935) that forbids him from firing certain leaders of certain regulatory commissions. Mostly the FTC, because the Democratic DC judges are leaning heavily on this old ruling to stop Trump from getting rid of any heads of regulatory bodies.

If your into civic law this is a big deal, basically back in 1935 a circuit court created a president that certain members of certain bodies are not under the President nor the Senate so neither body can fire them. This judge basically created a "4th" branch of government that was both quasi-judicial and quasi-legislative. Which was ignored for almost a century (because it was a fucking retarded ruling) until a activist Democratic judges dragged it out of the crypts to use against Trump.

This mostly has to due with Trump firing a Special Council named Hampton Dellinger (a Biden appointee) from his position. To which Dellinger sued Trump on Monday saying the PotUS has no power over his role and cites this retarded 1935 ruling. To which the local DC circuit judge was more then overjoyed to agree and slap a restraining order on Trump as well as ordering him to re-enstate Dellinger.

So this morning Pam Bondi sent a letter to the Senate saying the DoJ will challenging this ruling in the SCotUS as the PotUS as head of the government has power over any appointee no matter which department he/she works for.

TLDR: so faggot who got fired by Trump dug up some crusty old ruling and the lefty judge in DC said OK you bet! Let's put a restraining order on Trump now to stop him. Then Trump's new AG said lol fuck no, that ruling is stupid and old as fuck so we are going to bring it to the SCotUS for a final ruling.

warning much heavy legalese inside but if you want an actual detail breakdown this faggot does that.

Well, I mean, if they are studying how racist fungi are or how ecosystems are actually a reflection of tranny culture then yeah, I'd say start planning for an alternative. If you are researching actual, useful biology then you'll have a job.

Clock me if late but per AP, DOGE started investigating treasury about an hour ago

SAY IT WITH ME

FED NEXT

the article is two paragraphs man, stop redditoring it up and read the actual article instead of just the title. the inspector general of the Treasury is doing an audit at the request of democrats to see if they can find any security issues that would give them ammo against DOGE
WASHINGTON, Feb 14 (Reuters) - The Treasury Department's inspector general said on Friday it began an audit of security controls for the U.S. government's payment system, the Associated Press reported, after Democratic senators expressed concern about the access given to President Donald Trump's aide Elon Musk and his staff.

Citing a letter it obtained from Loren J. Sciurba, Treasury’s deputy inspector general, the AP said the audit will review the past two years of transactions. The audit comes amid concerns over accountability for Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team.

shit fair enough, I was just salt mining and saw that right at the top so wanted to share

my thinking was if the treasury is investigating him that means they have access to their records though yea?

appreciate the clarification though

I disagree with this part. Russia isn't le big bad that it's made out to be and I question if it ever was le big bad and not a psyop for infinity-funding of Operation-paperclip Nazis to experiment on the American people. (MK Ultra for one, popular example).

Biden pushed the sanctions on Russian energy to sell US energy to Europe at a marked-up price. Guess where the proceeds went? Ukraine. It's the same playbook as Iran-Contra.
Proof of this can be found in the UK where our PM Liz Truss - a Trump fan, was ousted after 40-or-so days because she was going to make Britain energy independent and help Europe with cutting ties to American LNG. The international markets were manipulated to make her look unpopular - combined with a media campaign to call her a lettuce, and she was gone.
How is that proof? Our current government lick the balls of the EU and paki elite, supported Kamala by sending 100s of labour members to the US and have ruined our economy WORSE than Truss. Yet they're still in power.

TL;DR - Russian energy sanctions benefited Russia. America (Biden+globohomo+wefaggots) fucked around to make extra money from Europe to help fund the war in Ukraine, which gave America the excuse to keep the gas flowing and the war going.
I respectfully disagree on your first point. It's an open secret that Putin had something to do with the 1999 apartment bombings which catapulted him to political office. He is not a good guy and, ever since his election, he has refused all NATO and Western cooperation unless it had to do with killing Chechens not under the control of Kadyrov. I 100% agree with critics that expanding NATO at the exclusion of Russia in the 90's was a fucking terrible idea, but post-Soviet Russian leadership never showed an interest in "joining the club" so to speak, and they either never made security guarantees to post-Soviet states - or they outright reneged on their assurances (e.g. Ukraine).

As for all the weird energy policies, I do agree with you there. A lot of green and renewable energy people are serious innovators. There is a lot of strategic value in renewable energy. However, that industry has become a giant incestuous government slush fund boondoggle.

Russian energy sanctions really only benefited countries like India and China that were able to get dirt-cheap energy from Russia. My opinion on the Ukraine War is this started out as a EU mistake that snowballed into globohomo nation-building.

Edit to add: the Ukraine War was also a way for the US to do "penetration testing" of Russian military capabilities and study the results. We learned a lot about Russian warfighting - at the expense of the Ukrainians, but data is data. I don't think it's right, but there is a silver lining.

Is it too late to change your research focus to racial differences in intelligence?

here's some more information from ABC News, which ironically seems to have much better reporting than the AP

from what it says here it sounds like they're trying to do an audit to:
- see if there are any security controls that DOGE misused against protocol or something for news hit pieces
- see if they can find fraudulent transactions, and if they find none (according to them), use it for news hit pieces

The Treasury Department's Office of Inspector General on Friday said it was launching an audit of the security controls for the federal government's payment system, after Democratic senators raised red flags about the access provided to Trump aide Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency team.

The audit will also review the past two years of the system's transactions as it relates to Musk's assertion of “alleged fraudulent payments,” according to a letter from Loren J. Sciurba, Treasury’s deputy inspector general, that was obtained by The Associated Press.

The audit marks part of the broader effort led by Democratic lawmakers and federal employee unions to provide transparency and accountability about DOGE's activities under President Donald Trump's Republican administration. The Musk team has pushed for access to the government's computer systems and sought to remove tens of thousands of federal workers.

No dumbass this the OIG auditing DOGE’s access to the payment system. It’s some bullshit spin by the Democrats in an attempt to make them not look like a giant pile of corruption.

Migration is going very well for the Europeans and the people coming there in droves are definitely not causing any problems for their host nations.
But if you'd just visualize a rhetorically useful alternate universe in which a white German did that instead of yet another ungrateful savage from Islamistan, you'd realize that you are wrong.
