How Doomworld handles us noble shitposters in a nutshell


Doomworld is a site created sometime in the late 90's as a hub for Doom
related information. Ever since the Columbine shootings, Doomworld has been on a collective mission to prove that they can be the most sensitive community about controversial content. The brunt of the controversy appears to be directed at trolling content, because posting mean things and making WADs that have mean jokes automagically makes you a hard-as-nails school shooter. Ever since the death of the previous archive maintainer, Bloodshedder has done everything in his power to make sure no WADs with any natsy mean content makes it in the archives, and Linguica reciprocated by making sure no mean and nasty shitposts stay up on Doomworld.

Oh and I also hear from /cow/ that Linguica was a SomethingAwful mod, make of that what you will.

Also there's someone informing me of an archive maintainer defending some lolicon creep just to keep a troll WAD off the site.

[10:33 AM] somemong: runawayd was a WAD made for the sole purpose of trolling another user. There wasn't much to the WAD other than painting the user as a lonely nerd who considers little girls his wives, and is destined to die alone. It was just needless ugliness, and even if it weren't, it had little to no gameplay value.

Are these guys really still so hung up on their loose association with a moral panic surrounding an 18-year-0ld tragedy?

Also does this mean they're taking down the "Harris Levels"?

The Doom community is a colorful bunch. Doomworld houses those edgy annoying hipsters with weening tendencies who also can't bear to see the game in any state other than vanilla, aka without mods.

Zandronum seems to be the opposite where most people are egotistical as hell and people there live for weening and drama. ZDoom on the other hand is somewhere in between but you can see some progressiveness as noted by their hatred of Trump and sometimes men, extremely arrogant programmers and some autists on the site.

The Harris Levels were never hosted on /idgames (or if they were they were taken off there immediately after Columbine happened). Doomworld hosts uaclabs.wad (Eric's most famous WAD) as part of their "most infamous WADS" list from their 10 year retrospective of Doom, which you can find here: https://www.doomworld.com/10years/bestwads/infamous.php

I thought there was some site which hosted most of Harris's fan levels. There's rumors someone somewhere has the one he allegedly modeled after Columbine but whoever has it is keeping it.

I can't say whether a level modeled after Columbine actually existed but if it weren't for the fact that Eric killed a bunch of people, it would have been pretty unremarkable as there were a shitload of WADs modeled after high schools and colleges, especially in the mid-90's (one of the most well-known early WADs was modeled after a college the author went to where the textures were basically photographs of buildings there that the author took)

I do remember reading on a list though that quite a few of Harris' doom levels are lost to time

That link and the pages after it shows how arrogant programmers there can get. What happened simply is some guys complain about a horrible layout on an editor that was implemented on the recent update. The author took the criticisms poorly, abandoned the project but not before putting a subtle and short chimp-out.

Some people there weren't the brightest (admins and mods included) and decided to whiteknight that guy by telling everyone should be grateful without even realizing that the arrogant tard can't be his own boss all the time.

He's not the only one. There's this guy too. As I said, the Doom community is a colorful bunch that there's some people there that you can observe from afar.

They're right to bitch about used textures not being separated in their own column apart from textures that haven't been used in GZDoom Builder. Like why the fuck would you get rid of something so helpful?

It doesn't surprise me that the Doom community has devolved into this lulzy mess. It honestly doesn't. Bootyass Fields is pretty much one of the last bastion of non-tard segments of it left, and it's just a shitty proboards forum. If anyone is chimping out or anything they're just shitposting or satirizing other people chimping out and whatnot.

Back then before I knew of these three forums I expected Doom to have an edgy but fun community. It seems like all I can find are insufferable douchebags and annoying PC autists.

Given how trannies can be mental and vain I wouldn't be surprised if the admin searched here and that's what led to ZDoom's abandonment. His full name can be easily found as well.

Also, the one with the weeb avatar on the second link always appears when a discussion something about politics or genders pop up. He joins there to be a passive-aggressive sperg, and he's one of the users there that I keep watch on.

Yep, I only hang around there for mod updates and pointers. And DoomRLA which is taking a goddamn eternity to update.

Since they look autistic than they are, are there some other reasons why they hate Brutal Doom? Aside from the author not crediting anyone he's taken stuff from, not being PC and the BD fanboys.

Some of them seems to just hate the author for no reasons other than bandwagon hopping.
