Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

With this "gym of life" thing I was reminded of it while I was shoveling snow today. When you live in the suburbs they dread about in a house you have to regularly do chores. Jason never seems to bring that up regarding the gym of life he laments about so much. Even if you own a dog you'll eventually have to take it out to walk. Hell sometimes I walk for a long time outside and I don't live in an urban environment because there are sidewalks going pretty much everywhere anyway.

I always wear gloves when pumping gas because, honestly, who knows how many people have touched that handle without washing their hands first? It’s dirty from what I'd call "regular use", not from the fuel itself
I often end up washing my hands after pumping fuel simply because it's not uncommon to get some gasoline to drip on you when you pull it out. It'll evaporate quick enough, sure, but it still stinks and I would rather not smell my gas-stained hands while I drive.

Still taking the election well I see.

I truly don't understand being public with this mindset because why should we come to anyone this fatalistic for advice about anything, even the most trivial piece of life advice, if this is their attitude?

Also can't move because wife-dependent:

Do canucks and euros have such dogshit infrastructure that their pumps leak fuel onto them? This has never once been a problem anywhere I've ever been in the states, no matter what middle-of-nowhere decades-old gas station I've gone to.
One of the few Tesla owners I know (not a scumbag but suspected to be on the spectrum) has stated that one advantages of an electric car is never dealing with a "filthy gas station" again. It comes off a bit of cope to me since there are still many dirty (germs, dirt, etc.) things you interact with daily. Whatever, he doesn't spend all day tweeting that if you live in the suburbs (he does) you're an idiot, evil, or both.

I know there are suburban areas where there are no sidewalks, but those streets also tend to have no vehicular traffic on them. Seems like these sorts of streets should be an ideal since it fulfills their "streets are meant for the PEOPLE" ideals, but then they just complain that there are no sidewalks instead!

Don't tell Jason, but Fiester is a weakling who doesn't want to bike when it's cold outside:

I can't believe I’m going to bat for a Tesla humper, but I have to agree on the sentiment concerning gas stations. Most station-attached convenience stores are dingy little places marred by questionable lighting, unpleasant cashiers, and toilets that look like they came out of a horror set. While they can often provide what is needed in moments of desperation, it still is not a pleasant experience and gaining a way to justify not going into one is certainly nice.

One problem when you're traveling is the places to charge mean you get even less options to choose a 'nicer' stop. If you want a snack or a restroom there's likely only one fast charger around or if you're lucky, two. They're rarely close to anything nice. Maybe a gas station, maybe a fast food joint, sometimes placed where the company running the charge station didn't put it near anything at all, so you still end up stopping twice.

I was planning a trip and saw one at a grocery store, ok, usually cleaner than a gas station. Then I read the description. "Homeless encampment on the other side of the bushes from the chargers." Needless to say I skipped that one.

It depends where you live. I have noticed many stations past the Rockies tends to fit that description.

Still miss Quik Trips:

A lot of it depends on how old it is. Many of the gas stations built in the late 1990s to mid-2000s are really grimy by this point, especially if they're independently owned outlets.

Much of this is based on maintenance and regular cleaning, you can still keep a store just as nice as it was twenty years ago if you clean and fix everything. If the clerk is behind a glass shield, you can forget about it being a clean store.

Filthy could also mean full of homeless people who ask you for money, which seems to be less common at electric car charging stations than gas stations, and obviously way less common charging up at home...hopefully.

I know the term cuck gets thrown around a lot but American Fietser is a cuck.
That term might even be too kind.

"Sorry hon, spent all the Valentine's money on bikes and recording equipment I never use. Oh that's ok, let me know when you're back from your extended work trip!"

He's also assassination fantasizing again:

Not helping the allegations that urbanists hate cars because they have so many DUIs that they can no longer legally drive.

Its actually good advice too if you're handling 100LL

Does American Fietser have some kinda poorfag fetish? This is the level of ingenuity most people living in China did back in the 1960-70s but don't anymore since back then the everyman could only afford a bike and trucks were in very short supply.
