Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

Are they worth a read considering I read all of the original series and considered it to just be OK?
I despise the Shaman King sequels and dropped them. I view them like Boruto where all it does is fuck up the ending, but as I said I dropped them so I have no idea if they rectify how fucking shit they are later on.

I've rewatched Evangelion plus End once more and I have to say you just don't get this kind of animation anymore. Hell, even for the 90s it was a lot if what was going on behind the scenes is any indication.

What I'm more interested in are the shows that inspired Anno and co. I have watched a few Tomino shows, but I've heard in particular that Space Runaway Ideon is the one that was like a prototype Eva, is that so?

Ideon is a classic. Beside the weird design of the main mecha (sorry, it looks like a giant GM from the original Gundam, I can't not see it), it's one of those slow-burning shows that ends up being incredibly rewarding as the plot develops. The second half is downright incredible as the character motivation really develops and Be Invoked is stunning to watch all the through with a really bittersweet ending. I'd rate it much higher than End of Evangelion because EoE is like a postmodern take on Be Invoked which makes it lame.
How much anime is NOT an adaptation of some LN or manga right now? This is an honest question, I read more manga than watching anime, but can't think of anything from the last 5-10 years that was anime only and set the world on fire.
IIRC the amount of anime only stuff hasn't dropped by much in the past 15 years or so. What's really changed is the fact you rarely see any VN adaptions anymore compared to the 00s or early 10s when lots of VNs like Clannad and Steins Gate got adaptions.

when was this
It's dubiously canon, most of the character existed in some form in Kohta Hirano's early work which was, well, porn. The Doctor's prototype was in a story where he gives Adolf Hitler a catgirl to rape so we can extrapolate that Schrodinger is in fact the bastard catboy son of Adolf Hitler.

This is why One Peak will always be superior, the literal trannies in Impel Down notwithstanding.

Got Akiba Maid War. That dish that's like an omlette with rice and the ketchup design....you can't get that outside Japan can you? I remember it also is in Sakura Wars and Tales of Graces (Hubert's least favorite food).

End of Evangelion....I wonder why he killed everyone. Everyone hates Misato's death. I also hate that Ritsuko died despite her suicide had she not been shot.

Was Anno really planning from the beginning to kill everyone off? Or was it the death threats he got that drive him or was it working on Nadia (it caused him major depression) that made him decide to go dark? Rebuild is obviously his new take.

If you go into Fairy Tail expecting One Piece you will always end up hating it, it's best to ignore dick waving and pissing contests between fans fighting over what series is superior.

They offer very different experiences and it's best to look elsewhere if you want a long epic I would suggest to try reading Kingdom. Fairy Tale is a series if you want fun characters, fan service, and to turn your brain off.
Fairy Tail is my "I have nothing else to watch and I'm bored series". It's adequate filler. Do not watch if you're expecting a "good" story, fuck no lol. It's cheap entertainment. That's it.

Also catching up on my anime this week. Finished Zeta Gundam after putting it off for a year half way through. Pretty kino.

Danmachi is back and has a release schedule now. Loving it.

Solo leveling continues to be based

The overtime fantasy one continues to be fun

Apothecary Diaries is still kino

And the rest I'm watching is just filler lol.

you can cook it yourself, it's just scrambled eggs (OMUlette) with fried RICE.

Yeah, it's not that hard to make if you don't care about aesthetics (drop omelet on leftover fried rice) but if you watch tutorial videos they use incredibly sketchy methods to get it looking perfect so it's probably worth avoiding if you have the sort of autism that demands perfection because you're going to go through a lot of attempts before you're satisfied.

I think the cultural baggage for omurice (and why it shows up at Maid Cafes) is that it's a simple dish like your mom used to make for you before you left to live alone as a corporate slave in a soulless efficiency apartment in Tokyo.

Is Gate any good? Concept seems cool but first episode in the writing seems subpar
