I feel like Canadians are taking the 51st state thing way too seriously. It is obviously just a joke, the downsides of taking Canada heavily outweigh the benefits for Trump. I used to think that they knew he was just being an asshole and they had a problem with him being an asshole but the more and more I look into it it feels like a good portion of them they really are stupid enough to think they're at an actual risk of invasion.

None of these people said a peep until Trump started pointing out how our hat is taking advantage of us. It's encouraging them to not want to fix their own country out of some sense of misguided and defensive nationalism in the face of Trump demanding they set their house in order.
