The sleeper issue of the Chagos Islands is starting to boil over. For those who are not up to speed on this major crisis brewing in the Indian Ocean, the British Government under Kier Starmer has agreed to transfer sovreignty of the Islands to Mauritius, a Chinese client state that has never had control over the Islands. And also pay them 9 billion dollars.
There is one fly in the ointment. The Chagos Islands are home to the United States base, Diego Garcia. Which for those who don't know is THE Strategic air and naval base of the USA in the Southern Hemisphere. It is the US Navies supply dump for operations in Africa and the Middle East. In the US-Afghan War, it was where the B-52 bombers took off from. It sits astride the trade route from Singapore to Europe.
And Kier Starmer, in the interests of "Decolonization" is about to hand the lynch pin of the America's southern hemisphere defense posture to a Chinese puppet state. The US has been, quietly, letting it be known London is going to pay a price for this.
Australia on the other hand has just sent out its former Prime Minister to let it be known that the UK has fucked everything up.
The fate of Diego Garcia could cause a serious rupture in US-UK relations. The United States is NOT going to allow the transfer of sovereignty of the Islands to Mauritius. The moment the UK puts pen to paper on that deal, the USA is going to seize the Islands by force.
