china has basically never been the leader in any technology field, they have a lot of smart and talented people but being a leader requires thinking outside of the box. china's strategy for projecting soft power, at great expense of resources and human capital, is maintaining a society and culture that does not think outside of the box. i have not heard anything at all about china doing brainwave research and i know they're heavily invested into genetics and virology so i wouldn't be surprised at all that some bureaucrat had the sudden realization that america is doing something in a field they have not even thought about. now they have to spin the machine up to make it look like they're better at it than we are. they did this with stealth airplanes and laser weapons 10 years ago so they're probably gonna do it with neuralink

There is a theory btw that since it's an investment company (which no one has been able to locate/verify even exists) that the money he set fire to wasn't actually personally his and was rather the investment company's money (or more likely the money of their investors/customers).

That certainly puts an interesting spin on things if it is the case.

Other theories are that this is a viral marketing attempt for a company that does BCI (brain-computer interface) shit but I personally do not think that is remotely possible because this kind of stuff would scare the shit out of normal people and make them not want to have anything to do with it.
