If the cow has a public social media presence and the thread is causing zero issues for the site (excluding the feelings of a cow), it's not going to get locked. The only time a thread of an active cow gets locked is when there are a large amount of retards derailing the discussion away from the cow and/or general unnecessary retardation.
At best it'll get moved to lolcows of history and get the inactive tag if enough time passes without something interesting happening, as even long-dead cows like Lowtax still have their threads open.
Hopefully she's able to get her meds today, it's clear that she's willing to follow treatment and get her life in order
There is no automatic procedure AFAIK. But if the cow manages to completely disappear off the radar (as in: leave any groups they were a part of, nuke their social media accounts, etc. - basically completely quit the Internet), its thread can be locked manually. It's rare, but it happened before.
