Given that the tweet simply reported that these were the age ranges in the database where there is the equivalent of a ("Dead=False" ) field when one might expect the opposite, I'm not going to panic for now. Without context, it could be the case some of these records don't have a DOB, some may be records that simply don't belong and were left intact versus being physically deleted, or dummy data for testing purposes to make sure someone who was alive before social security existed that somehow got input into the system never receives a single check.
Someone else posted it earlier, but the SSA released the reports of its own investigation into this matter in 2015, where they found exactly what Musk is talking about now. They determined that the process to purge the records would be time consuming and expensive, and would very likely lead to duplicate data entries which might cause problems, and since there's no payments going to these ghosts in the system, there's no current justification to fuck with it.
Why on earth is the largest demographic 30-39? I thought social security was for old folks
This isn't a list of people receiving Social Security, this is a list of people with Social Security numbers that are not listed as dead.

From what I've been told, the government computer systems are so antiquated, the intercommunication between different systems/departments is either inefficient at best or impossible at worst because the computers lack a common protocol that can be used for information exchange - leaving users to rely on sneakernet to move information back and forth.
A Hypothetical: an extremely over-procured system costing millions and millions of dollars of shiny new toys (with all the fresh bugs and patches) that decreased throughput, because the bottleneck was an old man saving the data on LTO tapes and doing 3 daily deliveries via golfcart. Problem? Construction made the golfcart route more of a hassle, so deliveries were sometimes only 2 times in a day.

This is of course purely hypothetical. It is also hypothetical that old men like Werther's Originals.

SSI has been expanded over the years to include low income and disabilities. It's the same thing they've always done. They call it "expanding eligibility" so they don't have to outright vote on social spending programs out in the open.

This is what fucking gets me the most
4 years ago to now: "erm, Egg prices going up isn't that big of a deal, chud, its just inflation."
now: "okay the price increases were actually bad. but DRUMPF ISN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT CHUD, DO YOU REGRET VOTING FOR HIM NOW, HUH? LOOK AT HOW GREAT AMERICA IS, CHUD!"
How do these people genuinely believe what they say?
They don't. It's Post-Modernism. Words don't have meanings, they have damage values. If they can use them to hurt you, distract you, weaken you, that's good. If they can't, they're worthless to them. Logic, consistency? None of that shit matters. What matters is power. Does this argument give them power, or does it cost them power? The former is good, it can be allowed to continue. The latter is bad, it must be subverted or stopped as a threat.
It would be trivial to track down who is cashing the checks. Like in minutes trivial.
And now you know why they are freaking out more than anything about DOGE being able to track down who is cashing the checks.

How much monthly is the average social security payment? MSN's AI search says $1925.46 a month.

There are MILLIONS of those checks going out, every month.

$19.3 billion-ish. A month.

$231 billion a year.

Social Security's been a problem as long as I've been alive. How much of that is because they converted some of it to a leftist slush fund and demand we need to overfund it to keep the slush fund liquid?

Crazy how lots of people in the movement joined it because they were trying to save the whales and now we advocate for wind turbines that I, and many others believe, are killing the whales. I left a local environmental movement because they wouldn't stop talking about carbon. I hope that one day they jank that movement back from them.

Protip: YOU are the Carbon they want to reduce.

Idea: Retroactively label shitty old adult-contemporary singers as country then sit back and watch as the power of celeb-worship gets plenty of orange-man-bad thinking injected into populations of dumb idiotic rednecks.
She was always sort of a country singer

Crow's first album was country but ghost written by a gay country sessions musician who Crow fucked over and stole all credit for his work/refused to pay him ala Lauryn Hill.

Crow however dodged a bullet though in that her ghost writer died via autoerotic asphyxiation accident (with him being found wearing a skirt and a faceless leather hood covering over his head, before he could take her to trial. And unlike Hill, Crow recorded a second album that while having cowriters, also featured Crow's own writing

That second album was an admittedly well made Liz Phair knock off album which off the strength of its lead single, outsold Phair's own work. It also split her fanbase, bringing her a new alt rock fandom while pissing off her first album fans.

Then she went pop for a couple of albums and fizzled out and turned back to country.

Also of note, she married Lance Armstrong and promptly dumped his ass when he privately admitted to her that he was a cheating fraud. Didn't stay with him, just told him to fuck off and divorced him on the spot with Lance paying out the ass to make the divorce happen asap so that Sheryl wouldn't expose his crimes to the public in a messy divorce fight.

I don't think Trump will run for a third term, but I don't think he'll say he's NOT running for a third term as long as possible, hence his noncommittal to endorsing Vance.

I remember a documentary about Teddy Roosevelt saying, despite the fact his first term was actually finishing that of McKinley, he swore he wouldn't run for a third term in 1908 (even though back then the two term limit was still only precedent, not law). Because he announced this, the Democrats filibustered everything of his they could, knowing they just had to wait out the extremely popular Republican President. Roosevelt kept his promise in 1908, but did run again in 1912, unsuccessfully.

I think Trump knows the same fate awaits as soon as he promises he won't run again, so he'll nod at Republicans floating a third term and keep teasing "Maybe I will run again, who knows?" for as long as possibly before endorsing Vance.

NEETs can get SSI

SSI disability?
The NEETs can pick up the slack from the immigrants. Fuckers all need a GIANT collective kick in the ass.
Let the NEETs pick the crops, clean the toilets, and mow the yards. All the shit the Left is worried about having to do themselves if we kick out the gimmegrants? (I heard that word today, I'm stealing it. Portmanteaus are fun. Fight me.) We have an abundant supply of domestic NEETs to enslavegainfully employ in exciting, growing industries.

Lazy cunts.

But 50 MILLION extra SSNs than there are US citizens?
Broke: "50 million extra SSNs? That's definitely fraud!"
Bespoke: "50 million extra SSNs? And they want us to believe they couldn't rig the 2020 election because of how secure our elections are? They can't even secure SSN to a margin of error less than 10 million people!"

The Chinese really didn't like black people before coming here to train them to operate their new glass factory. They liked them even less after. Includes union-busting.
This was also the documentary "produced" by the Obummers, correct? So I can't tell if it's an honest look at how things happened or if it's framed in a way that the Chynese are meanies or if it's an excuse for more rapefugees to replace American workers.

She clearly didn't give a fuck in that moment. Still one of the funnier moments from this year, and this year's just started fellas.
The best part of the exchange is, from what I remember, most dialogue that goes on in the chambers is recorded and forever preserved in the government archives. So there's a good chance that line is with us forever.

Legit environmental issues like habitat and species conservation being seen as progressive makes my blood boil. I just want to help rare animals and plants without being lumped in with trannies, please.
I hate it more because very few of these fucks give a shit about the animals or their habitats.
Nobody wants to actually preserve what limited wildspaces are left, or fix which ones have been fucked over by human activity; they just want to shame you for driving a car, tax you for eating meat and tell you how much water you can use.

If you gave the average "environmentalist" two buttons; one that reduces the population of Earth by 50% and one that ensures all endangered species will survive for another 200 years, the vast majority of them are just gonna slam the genocide button so fast it'll give you whiplash.

Social Security head steps down over DOGE access of recipient information, sources say —CNN (Archive)
michelle-king.jpg
The Social Security Administration’s acting commissioner has stepped down from her role at the agency over Department of Government Efficiency requests to access Social Security recipient information, according to two people familiar with the official’s departure who were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Acting Commissioner Michelle King’s departure from the agency over the weekend – after more than 30 years of service – was initiated after King refused to provide DOGE staffers at the SSA with access to sensitive information, the people said Monday.
The White House has replaced her as acting commissioner with Leland Dudek, who currently works at the SSA, the people said.
CNN has reached out to the Social Security Administration for comment.
White House spokesperson Harrison Fields released a statement Monday night saying: “President Trump has nominated the highly qualified and talented Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration, and we expect him to be swiftly confirmed in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the agency will be led by a career Social Security anti-fraud expert as the acting commissioner.”
Fields added, “President Trump is committed to appointing the best and most qualified individuals who are dedicated to working on behalf of the American people, not to appease the bureaucracy that has failed them for far too long.”
King’s exit from the administration is one of several departures of high-ranking officials concerned about DOGE staffers’ potential unlawful access to private taxpayer information.
DOGE has accessed Treasury payment systems and is attempting to access Internal Revenue Service databases.
Since Republican President Donald Trump has retaken the White House, his billionaire adviser Elon Musk has rapidly burrowed deep into federal agencies while avoiding public scrutiny of his work through the DOGE group.
Nancy Altman, president of Social Security Works, an advocacy group for the preservation of Social Security benefits, said of DOGE’s efforts that “there is no way to overstate how serious a breach this is. And my understanding is that it has already occurred.”
“The information collected and securely held by the Social Security Administration is highly sensitive,” she said. “SSA has data on everyone who has a Social Security number, which is virtually all Americans, everyone who has Medicare, and every low-income American who has applied for Social Security’s means-tested companion program, Supplemental Security Income.”
“If there is an evil intent to punish perceived enemies, someone could erase your earnings record, making it impossible to collect the Social Security and Medicare benefits you have earned.”
The future of Social Security has become a top political issue and was a major point of contention in the 2024 election. About 72.5 million people, including retirees, disabled people and children, receive Social Security benefits.

And most importantly, rename it American in the process. Suffer anglos
Not a linguist but your comment made me think.

Serious thought....is there enough justification to declare American English its own language? Given the altered spelling, different words/phrases used by average speakers, the plethora of slang/loanwords from black/mexican culture...
