Epic! 8-bitguy uses 1 weird trick to detroy rare prototypes!

I haven't actually seen that many windows taskbars burnt into tubes, but they usually had cool screen savers back then, now not so much. You get to live with that boring black screen.
Apple still has screensavers. They're faggy but they have them.

My mom used a CRT into the 2010s and that thing pretty much had XP desktop/wallpaper burned into it. I should have taken a photo, was like a work of art.

The point was that CRTs are not inferior in every single way (which was claimed in the quoted post). Modern screens have many advantages, but people like to gaslight themselves into thinking CRTs are totally bad when they aren't.
I agree. I have tons. Im just saying it always starts with that image then someone posts the black levels of two monitors from like 2007 then someone posts the same 3 scanline photos...ive seen it a million times.

Dont make me take a picture of a SNES game title screen, I'll do it, it's gonna take me an hour to get the meme shot just right, then I'm gonna turn it off until the next time I neen internet brownie points.

Someone recently broke into storage unit rented by Bringus Studios and stole his PS5, an iBoss server and bunch of other stuff:

Can't have shit in the seattle metro ish type area. Some stuff:

I'll update this comment if I learn anything new. Break in would have occured some time between the 22nd and noonish on the 24th of January 2025, so if you're looking for listings on craigslist, facebook etc they would have to be posted on or after the 22nd

In hindsight the fact that the tops of those units are open-ish is kinda awful and it should have rang some alarm bells for me. First time renting a storage unit and it didn't even cross my mind. Going to have much higher standards for whatever unit I move to next.

I'm filing a police report tomorrow and we're gonna pop around to pawn shops and see if they've seen anything

The number I put on-screen for the PS5 was just the model/revision number. It's a fat PS5. I don't have the serial unfortunately but I have the MAC addresses, which is technically just as good. WiFi MAC: BC:33:29:6C:3C:0F LAN MAC: 5C:96:66:50:05:F6

>steals a new ps5 in box
>doesnt steal an xbox dev kit
Lets play a little game of guess who could have stolen it! XD
Serious note if you are in the hellscape that is seattle washington for some fucking reason and you see a giant nvidia pc while that state has police who are massive pussies shoot your shot and try to help out with the law and order.

Wasn't that just an xbox devkit case with retail xbox guts retrofitted in? You couldn't pawn that off as some rare collectable.
The case on its own could be. And yea I remember watching the video.

Checked in on his Time Rift Arcade channel.

Am I crazy or was he overly autistic with some of his solutions?
Like, I don't think you need to desolder keyboard keys because people were accidentally pausing the game. Surely a sign with simple instructions would have sufficed? And you're actually teaching people something.

In any case, here's the video....

There was literally ceiling meth addict access to Bringus storage unit.

Why does 8bitguy ALWAYS sound congested?

Lurker, you're not wrong about his autismo, he likes eyebolts entirely too much. It's inelegant. Which is funny because he 3d printed the false buttons.

I wasn't sure where to post this but I wanted to share my horror. Last few days I've been spending a lot of my free time going through old Amiga games on my A600 (thanks to the excellent rgb2hdmi and Gotek it's been a blast) I've never played back in the day, obscure ones and especially ones in languages that are not english (the Amiga had a vibrant market of some actually very, very good german games that were never translated into any other language).

I stumbled across a series of games that were basically modeled after german game shows that ran back in the 80s and 90s I vaguely remember. That's not very notable and it was probably intended to be licensed shovelware for grandparents to buy their grandkids. What's notable though is how consistently creepy the general design of these games is. Look at these screenshots, they are intended to be for a children's gameshow game. (remember when we still did those? Before we found out they were by pedos, for pedos? Innocent times)

Anyways,

gameshow2_big.png

I then looked them up on lemonamiga, and sure enough, all games with the graphics designer Thomas Heinrich involved in have the same, weirdly unsettling artwork. What a strange thing to stumble across.

(EDIT: upscaled the images so you can really enjoy 'em)

You can save pretty much all consumer electronics by putting them in a ultrasonic cleaner of 99% pure alcohol and leaving it alone for a week. It'll clean everything out.
I have done/still do this. But if you mean let it soak for a week then you have to keep an eye on it. The alcohol will evaporate and also absorb water from the air, so eventually there's enough water in the solution for the bits you just cleaned to start rusting
