why wouldn't Trump talk to Putin FIRST? PUTIN is the AGGRESSOR. You have to talk to him to figure out what you need to do next. Do you negotiate, or do you come in guns blazing? Is Putin at least halfway reasonable? You would not know these things or Putin's red lines without talking to him. If he were talking to Ukraine instead of Putin, that would be fucking pointless, because Ukraine was not the aggressor. You need to know how to proceed with the aggressor.
