It was a complete switcheroo. The teacher left with a bucket of broken acorns liberally sprinkled with nerd blood and came back a week later with perfectly proportioned bags of ground acorn flour that was bought from somewhere. Nobody actually got sick from eating it, so I assume it was purchased from somewhere that properly prepared the flour. But like I said, we were all elementary school kids; we knew there was fuckery afoot, but we assumed it involved the Wood Shop teacher grinding the acorns for us instead of simply throwing them out and buying properly prepared acorn flour. GATE classes were often unintentionally hilarious, especially in hindsight.

If you live in DC proper you have to get DC plates and a special parking tag. When I lived there there was ONE office to do this at and you had better be in line by about 7:30am. They used to cut the line for the entire day at about 10am. It took me three full days to get a plate and license
