Hot take, if you aren't getting at least half of your degree paid for by something/someone else, you're either too retarded for college or too lazy for college.

There are endless opportunities for scholarships throughout school, whether they be academic, sports, or extracurricular. That being the case, we can just say "well those are competitive, not every kid can get one of those, etc".
Well then there's FAFSA, online scholarships, work programs, the military, hell McDonalds will pay for college these days.

It's just that there are so many things out there giving money for school you've got to actually be a retarded or lazy piece of shit not to find something.

And to anybody who wants to act like it isn't that easy, I got a full ride for my Bachelors entirely covered by a scholarship for minorities. I'm not a minority, and I half assed the application.
i can't believe some of you are dumb enough to bother with a legit scam that only exists to con companies into thinking everyone needs to know "gender" studies and siphon money from the government in exchange for providing permanent debt slaves through propagandisized midwits

I'm not going to give any leeway to guidance counselors, colleges, banks or the Department of Education who all colluded to very deliberately trap as many high schoolers (who could for some reason consent to years, even decades, of debt) into a trillion dollar usury scam. "If you don't go to college you'll work at McDonalds!" is also a fear tactic parents were beaten with so they would, in turn, beat it into their kids. Then a lot of these kids end up employed, yet can't pay off their loans due to how the interest works. I've seen this countless times from people who I wouldn't describe as lazy or retarded.

The first administration who forgives this debt (which I believe you could realistically do by shoveling it back into the schools, banks or even the federal reserve) is going to net themselves lifelong voters. I don't care what boomers and their "muh taxes" line say, wiping this out is a hundred times more important than anything USAID was funding and there's obvious net benefits to allowing an entire generation of kids to spend their money on anything besides loan payments and piddling crap to distract themselves from said loans.

Not true: there are grants to help the lazy and retarded go to college.
I mean this essentially makes my point. There are grants that even help lazy and retarded people go to college, and it's not like they're being hidden, so if you can't even get yourself the lazy and retarded freebies you clearly aren't somebody who needs to be in debt for a college degree.

I'm of 2 minds when it comes to this because obviously people are getting scammed, and even though I made the point that if you can't get someone else to pay for your college you're retarded, I still think it's fucked that people are getting shoveled into a system with basically 0 knowledge that puts them in debt for life, but at the same time I think it would be fucked if we decided just to cancel all debt for people who went to school for a useless degree, but also the people who maybe went $30k into debt so that they could get a 6 figure salary and earn more than the non-college educated population.

If I were to give my strongest take it would be something like, I think we should freeze all interest on college loans above 3-5%, and from there if colleges want to continue to benefit from government funding any college that accepts government funding should be forced to revamp the costs of their degree programs to more closely align with the expected job market and salary expectations for the average job you can expect to get with said degree IN THE FIELD THE DEGREE IS IN. Essentially, if there are very few jobs you can get with a communications degree and the jobs you can get are low paying, a communications degree should cost less than that of a computer science degree.

Good luck getting any of that if you're white.

no one would have a credit card then, i didn't even know credit cards had interest rates that low.
Nah, there are cards with low interest rates like 5-6% for people with great credit, insane income and who spend a lot of money each month (while paying it off in full) on them.

You just have to be wealthy to get those rates.

I think just giving back $1,000 would be a nice gesture but it needs to be explicit this is just a portion of money they were already spending through waste and fraud. Otherwise you know some faggot is just going to try the free gibs check every election.

Another option would just be 50% off your taxes for anyone who made under 2 million last year. This way it doesn't give money away to the already freeloading.

My parents were physically fit, they just had already lived their lives and wanted to retire, but then they had another kid.
Their friends and siblings were travelling and focusing on fun hobbies, but they had to plan trips around school schedules and have their concentration disturbed by a child needing attention.
Perhaps it was less an age thing and more a case of people who didn't want another kid having one anyway and then being disinterested, which is also bad.
Dude, maybe it's you? :punished:

And it's already been counterpointed that it's not inflation if it's already printed money that would've likely been locked up for later bribes for some time.
I could ONLY see it as a good idea if the executive must dispose of allocated money, and this is the best way, rather than letting it go into something else wasteful

I will say to one point, that some states actually have general scholarships which cover a significant portion of tuition*, provided you maintain a certain GPA (usually 3.0-3.4). How they save money though is like 2/3rds of college freshman tank their GPAs in the first or second semester due to a variety of reasons.

That being said, a lot of colleges will still tack on a bunch of stupid "fees" for classes and facility use that aren't covered by said scholarships.
