Department of Education
handles student loans with them picking the lenders for the FASFA application. I have doubts that DOGE or Musk would want to rehaul the student debt system, rather it's a justification to abolish the DoE.
If the loans default, then who is responsible for it? The lenders? The colleges? The states?
I'll answer the shortest first, and echo what others have said if the loans are defaulted, the US is left holding the bag. They are federally guaranteed student loans. Not all student loans are of this type, private student loans for instance wouldnt be under the Dept of Ed.
DOGE auditing of the DoEd would yeild some very different results than other departments. For instance in USAID you want to find where the money is going, why etc. Well this would be the same for DoEd. Who's getting these loans? What schools? How many of these people are graduating? What types of degrees are they going towards? all of this is probably in the back of your mind but the answers would likely shock middle America and really anger them about the prior administrations attempt to buy votes through loan forgiveness. Why would the US forgive a student loan for a high end state school who's campus is drenched in decadence, for a minorities lesbian studies degree? Most middle America types think student loans are people scraping by getting the bare necessity education in a lucrative field such as STEM or Teaching down at the community college.
There is also a fraud factor to find. How many student loans are going to legit student expenses, aka tuition? How many are paying for those on student visa's not even from the US? How many people are working but not even paying it back?
There is a lot to uncover at DoEd in regards to the student loans. I can't wait to see what comes of it

You guys remeber when I told you our Truman aircraft carrier got run into by a bulk carrier, we now have some images of the damage.
Ship nerds, you know how bad damage like this is? is this more or less superficial or will require more serious repair?
read that its the ships incinerator behind there
Hope your doing alright boss, I always love seeing you post <3
If this was battle damage during a war they wouldnt even bother fixing it. This is all pretty minor, a few million in welding, steal, and mostl in inspections. to give you some sort of semblance the anchor and chain if lost are about $200K to replace.
It is a life changing amount of money for many people and will directly help convert people to our side on cutting government waste. Its much easier to sell people on cutting spending when you give it back instead of spend it elsewhere.
Its my money I want it back if I can't have it back fuck you were spending it on trannies and gay frogs not whatever you want. Spend your share on what you want not mine.
on the topic of the hopefully passing comment of "paying $5000 dividend" if this were done it should only go to tax payers. Further it should not be sent out at all, instead a tax credit for 2025, and scaled to match the tax brackets, so those paying more taxes get to retain a bigger amount. There is no payout to "print money" for more inflation. There is no life changing money to those who arent earning. you just get to keep more of what you earned. This would incetivize the American worker, and those who receive nothing have no grounds to complain.
