Eliezer Schlomo Yudkowsky / LessWrong

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I bet smart people who don’t think they’re smart are less depressed than idiots who think they’re smart. Just spitballing.
Forget thinking you're smart because the superbaby is going to be engineered to be smart in the first place!

I can only imagine how fucked in the head a "super baby" would be when it's told from a young age that it's smarter than everyone else. If we're lucky we'll get another Yudkowsky.

That is the least of Ebeneezer Jew's disgusting acts. SFF.
Like these sick fucks get up to some shit. You will not enjoy reading back through this thread.

Except for Rocco's Basilisk, that was fucking hilarious.

There's a big difference between these sick fucks and other internet sick ticks: these niggers have millions, if not billions of dollars flowing around them and their ideas.

Every baby thinks that.
Would project #1 interfere with project #2?
I assume they are sequential. You're supposed to abstain from making a superhuman AI at least until you have super-intelligent humans.

That's one paper (which to be fair claims to deal with shortcomings of other papers) and only based on Bri'ish people and only those between the ages of 40-69 years of age who were only recruited between the years of 2006 and 2011.
Heres a pretty comprehensive meta-analysis(https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5195892/) And given what analysis of WW2 showed that those with higher IQ showed less combat fatigue and less PTSD overall(can't find the study at the moment) it seems fairly reasonable to assume that high IQs offer some form of protection against depression and anxiety attacks

Superbabies!

I never really read much of the shit these people write because it's boring but this has got me asking some serious questions:

Are they not aware that there is a fairly strong correlation between intelligence and depression? The kind that can't exactly just be whisked away by removing genes related to depression?

Guess not!

Well it’s pretty easy to justify something if you start with the premise that world is definitely going to end soon. If you can argue that something has even the very slightest chance of averting the world ending event, then any ethical objections can be brushed aside for the greater good.

It was an interesting read though that actually covered a lot of the limitations of gene editing humans. So I’ll give him that.

I also doubt they sent high IQ people into the meat grinder since they were rare and could usually do things that needed to be done other than dying in a ditch.

This is the crux of a lot of Yuddite's "rational" reasoning, you can see it in how he takes Roko's Basilisk seriously. Since anything is theoretically feasible if you presume that anything can be done then it's "rational" to be upset that other people didn't do it. So you're "forcing" a kid to be dumb by not developing superbabies. The AI is going to be angry and punish everyone who didn't create it sooner. The complete end of scarcity is five years away. Just set your Bayesian priors to 100% at all times and wonder how others can be so stupid as to set theirs lower. Everyone and everything is failing you by constantly failing to confirm to the perfect vision no matter how many times you tell it to achieve it. It's like reality is not even listening to you even as you've rationally demonstrated how it should conform based on a bunch of shit you've made up. Just fucking science it already.

Ben Landau-Taylor from Bismarck Analysis (on the old map between Leverage, the Median Group, and Overcoming Bias) noticed the idea of Yudkowsky's from a few years ago, so maybe that's got Yudkowsy to say "fuck the optics I'm going in".

Good article. I wonder if any of the rats have responded yet? Or do they just ignore criticism despite doing so being bad rationalism?

It's thanks to retards like this that Ph.D candidates have to take mandatory Ethics courses. How do they not stop for one second to consider the morality of their actions whenever they want to play God?

...Honestly I'm just praying for the Second Coming to finally arrive. We're straying too far and we're going to destroy ourselves in our hubris, whether from modifying our base genetics or creating machines that will kill humans the first chance they get.

And I would keep in mind how much this technology is in its infancy with how hard they're advocating to push it beyond its known limits. Even when it comes to genetics and autism and intelligence there isn't that much that is known for certain.
Plus you have to be able to trust the scientists that do this shit in the first place (I recall there was an IVF doctor or two who ended up using their own semen for hundreds of pregnancies).

Has all the hallmarks of a disaster sci-fi movie.

Worse thing, it's not a recent thing. Recall the number of scandals associated with stuff like cloning, or cold fusion. Research that was sold in its infancy as for the direct betterment of mankind, but soon after ethical violations and breach of the scientific method either vilified them to the eyes of the public or complete jokes to most academics (back when people were relatively sane). In modern day clown world, people get carried very easily by hype men like Musk, Altman and co., and never question how their developments are made, at what human cost or the moral issues that the new advances represent.
