Should this turn out to be true (I'm not gambling either way on this), the fall out wouldn't only be in international relations but to domestic public perception. If it turned out that the British govt. was heavily leveraged on Ukraine bonds or mineral rights or both, it would devastate any confidence in British govt. pronouncements on morality, the threat of Russia, etc.
