Unless you are going to want to learn about the Japanese side of vtubing and the general culture that comes from Hololive the answer is she has a nice voice. She's not promoted more or less then any other Holo, certainly not here. Holo is mostly "cute girls doing cute things".
If you want to learn about JP, can't get more general then Nijisanji and they are having a festival this weekend
https://fes.nijisanji.jp/2025/overseas-info/ The size of the exhibit is around the size of the White House
Easy to see who they attract as fans if you use the hashtag - #にじフェス2025
Feel free to look at their financials and general company structure to get an idea of how most vtubing companies in JP run

Otherwise watch Phase Connect, they are popular around here and are an EN company with mostly EN vtubers. A lot of people like this one
Same channel has other clips. If you liked Iron Mouse for her singing and crude humor watch this one
Kronii caught my attention because she kept getting recommended to me for some reason on YouTube. I'm not a VTube watcher outside of my foray a few years ago, but thumbnails featuring Kronii in particular (mostly clips) kept showing up so I started there, watching clips and then a few streams before also reviewing her peers.
Thanks for all the information. The financials/company structure was very helpful. The information was easy to follow and followed a natural logic. The Business Overview and proceeding sections do a good job of framing how they view their product.
The "Who is VTuber" section where they leverage what makes a VTuber distinct from an anime character/idol/YouTuber more or less correlates with my understanding though they are speaking in more idealistic terms (ideal vs execution). Though there are some distinctions between VTuber and anime character/idol/YouTuber there is still plenty of overlap. Seeing what they claim sets VTubers apart in a succinct way was useful.
I understand why Iron Mouse was/is popular, but she isn't really for me personally. I'll leave it at that for now. I will look into your recommendations though as another reference point (and maybe better understand this thread).
If you are asking why people like her, a lot of it has to do with what a flawed person she is. She can get very OCD in blick game, her power wash streams are stream of consciousness that go really weird places, and she fluctuates between "I got this!" and "I'm going to kill myself". Basically, she's pretty fucking funny. Very girl failure combined with a deadpan Daria-esque outlook on life and speech pattern. She has one of the biggest cases of gap moe between what you expect her to be like and how she really is.
She's a natural comedian by just existing:
An interesting perspective. The clip you selected more or less demonstrates what I've seen, which is generally speaking a low-energy, awkward, and subtle demeanor resulting in a more contextual kind of humor or appeal.
The accounts in the video are cute, but more comedic if you already know and like Kronii (which her friends and fans do). For example, if someone told me how they stacked pillows on a tired friend's back or how their friend silently didn't finish eating because they didn't like the food then I might laugh along politely. If the story was about a
mutual friend then I might be more invested in a "Oh, that is
so like
[friend's name]" sort of way. Essentially, people like this tend to appear naturally comedic to the people who already know and like them.
This helps explain some of why Kronii's appeal wasn't readily apparent. To be clear, I'm not saying Kronii isn't funny/appealing, just that she expresses it in her own way with her friends and fans. Thanks for taking the time to explain (and for posting an example).
