I was shocked when someone mentioned earlier in the thread that income taxes only provide HALF of the government's revenue, AND IT'S ACTUALLY TRUE!?!?!??!!?

In 2024, only 49% of federal revenue came from income taxes

All this time I've been thinking taxes are a necessary evil of modern civilization, but if we cut the budget by 50% literally no one would ever have to pay income tax? Probably less since we go over budget every year anyway.

And all this time we've been giving gazillion dollars to 90 Whogiveashitistans and funding two or more wars at once, while also employing millions of government employees to do nothing?

I wonder how hard freeing up 49% of the budget would really be.

Wonder what happens when you mix that with DOGE cutting out government waste, Trump telling Europe to pay for it's own defense, stopping the war in Ukraine while securing mineral rights to actually PAY BACK the loans, drilling for oil domestically, and seizing Greenland with its natural resources and retaking the lucrative Panama canal?

Trump has given Elon and DOGE the authority to oversee the efficiency in the government and has given him authority to fire federal employees who aren't of any use. Believe it or not the President actually does have the authority to hire people for things like this because he's literally the fucking boss of the US.

The larp that Elon is just firing people on his own accord without any authorization is up there with the Project 2025 fear mongering from the Democrats last year. It's a complete fabrication and it's literal lunacy.

Most qualified tech jobs have to do this daily btw, you have a meeting where each person on a team has to explain to the team what they did yesterday.

There's a reason for that.

If your IT department is structured like the ones I've worked for, then you'll have something along the lines of...

• Entry Level / Level 1-2: First line of defense that sorts through the incoming complaints and gets their hands dirty with the more common easy shit. Sends it off to a higher level / higher up if it's something beyond their scope.
• Coder: Self explanatory, handles website and proprietary software bugs/issues/designs.
• Network/Server: Again, self explanatory, although the Entry Level/ Level 1-2 person could also handle server related things like adding/unlocking accounts and/or microsoft exchange for emails.

Also not all techies are created equal. A coder may not know how to take apart a tower (or even hook up a monitor to one), and vice-verse. It's the only department where it's truly diverse regarding who does what.

You really can't say the same for something like Data Entry for example where it's just paper pushers typing away and sending shit to somewhere else (most of the time for filing away or to another department), or customer service where they're always on the phone and at times need to reach some sort of quota.

I talked to a guy who was a fed for many years yesterday. He said that in seven years he worked as a fed he did about two weeks of real work. He was also happy that all of his former coworkers were getting fired.
