It's actually worse. Therapy is a complete farce and grift. The problem is you have a lot people interested in human psychology and willing to do their work. You also have a very high paying profession. You also had a stigma around therapy that if you went, there was something wrong with you. What happened over the course of the past 30 years? Simple, lots and lots of psychology students who were multiple tiers of retarded. Limited choices and opportunity for employment. Your only choice to make any money is to open your own practice. Now you have to get clientele. Nobody wants to work with drooling retards 24/7 and the legality of the academic system slowly prevented them from doing any useful research. They weren't allowed to do useful research in college, so their experimental knowledge was limited. So you have an entire decades worth of psych degrees who own expensive practices, no clientele, and literally nothing better to do with their time. What's the end result? Well, we erode people's Constitution with my favorite concept: Mental Health.
