Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

Funny you should mention rats because right after I finished sharing the ferret story my brain hit me with, ”I bet I've walked past a whole handful of crazy rat girls who were smuggling rodents around in their clothes that I never noticed.” I remember my old school friends rat had a smell, but it really wasn't comparable to ferret musk. I recognized ferret smell instantly, even after going over a decade without any ferret exposure.

The crazy pet people who make my skin crawl the worst are bird owners who let the animal free range the home and shit everywhere, including fabrics like couches, curtains and bedding. Thankfully they are easily avoided; I can choose not to go into a home covered in bird shit. Avoiding retards who drag untrained dogs around is considerably more challenging. I milled around the fruit trees in the parking lot at my local rural supply store last week waiting for a guy with his pibble straining at the end of a chain to check out so I could actually go in to shop.

If your dog needs a length of chain to constrain it, consider pink juice instead....

I've seen the bird people too, and guess what? Shit down their back too. To this day I try to avoid any job where I have to regularly see customers. Hell, after the last two cat piss reeking co-workers, I'm starting to want a job where I'm all by myself more and more.

Since COVID, I've noticed a lot of people just straight-up bringing their dogs into places they're not supposed to be. Not even pretending to be service dogs - like rules, especially of sanitation, just don't apply to them.
I remember not even a few years ago when it was strictly verbotten to bring animals into any store aside from PetsMart. Nowadays, I'll go to literally any retailer -- Target, Walmart, Whole Foods, you name it -- and seriously about 2/3rds of the shoppers are Millennials with dogs on leashes. The signs on the doors often say no pets allowed, but just like shoplifting, the employees don't seem to care. I don't get it at all.

Seperation anxiety is part of the reason more people are bringing their non-service dogs into stores post-Covid. The dogs got used to their owners being home all the time. As for places like Home Depot, hardware stores are recommended by online dog trainers for socialization purposes.
I take my girl to home Depot and she loves it. The old boomers in lumbers always have a treat somewhere in their apron while I'm having a 2x4 cut. That's the only place I take her though outside of the dog park.

Blame the 'emotional support animal' people. Grocery stores are hamstrung to do much by discrimination lawsuit-paranoid upper management, so they feel forced to let now what they wouldn't have tolerated 20 years ago. Is it a sanitation issue? Yes. Can they do much about a particular pet in the store? Not unless another customer complains or it's becoming a nuisance or is an active danger to other people.

The definition of 'service animal' needs to legally change or you'll be seeing this for a long, long, time.

Would water sprinklers/ultra Sonic repeller work on murdermutts. I wouldn't want to call the pound on the dogs to keep the peace consdiering the owners are decent enough so ill try to see if they can't take cues from a ultra Sonic repeller then there should be animal control prevention.

In a common sense world you'd expect neighbors to put their dogs on a leash knowing that other dogs in a neighborhood are leashed or fenced.

No. Previously in the thread I and others posted a video featuring a wild boar fighting a pitbull. The pitbull kept fighting even after it was disemboweled (though it did show the boar a bit more respect). If a pitbull decides it's going to nanny you, it's either going to be you or it that dies.

Deterrence tactics don't work on shitbulls, because that would require them to fear pain or have a sense of self-preservation.

There's a reason why stopping them usually requires shooting them dead or cutting them to pieces.

This is pit bull and cane Corso deterrent

Why did she have her fucking dog with her while shopping? What’s the excuse? You can’t tell me that a shitbull is a service animal or, god forbid, an “emotional support animal”. Don’t get me wrong, I like dogs, I have one, but I don’t take him with me when I’m running errands.

Absolutely psychotic.

There's nothing wrong with taking your dog with you to stores that allow it. If it's a grocery store or a restaurant and your dog is not a service dog, then it needs to stay home. That's absolutely not OK. But to Home Depot or Lowes? Nothing wrong with that. Most of my local hardware stores have dog treats at the registers because taking your dog to the hardware store is pretty common. I take my Great Dane out on adventures to Home Depot, ranch stores like Tractor Supply, sporting goods stores like Cabelas, places like that where pets are welcome so he can socialize and meet new people. I did the same thing with my Great Weimar. Never had a problem.

Yeah I'm confused as to why taking my dog to Home Depot was rated autistic and dumb. They literally have a web page about it:

You do you but the worst shitbull on normal dog attack I ever got to witness was in a Home Depot. Sure the Rottie owner stabbed the fucking pit but at what cost? His dogs snout was tore to shit and the poor dog is probably traumatized.

I personally never felt the need to take my dog to places of business made for people but thats just me. That said he wasn't a shitbull but he was mixed with two temperamental breeds and I didn't want to risk a kid running up to hug the big ass walking floof.

He got plenty of exercise on long walks in the neighborhood and on the hiking trails where dogs are allowed. He socialized with my friends and extended family.

How about the rat and lizard owners who have rat and lizard piss running down their back
I owned rats for years and they never pooped or pissed on me. My guess is a lot of these owners are handling them before they get good and awake. I know the first thing I need to do after a few hours of sleep is to take a pee.

Sorry bro I just find it autistic to take your dog shopping🤷‍♀️ No offense and feel free to hit me with the little autistic icon for my love of fancy rats. Id consider them the best pets ever if not for their lifespan. Had about 15 at one time and taught them all except one(he was a dumbass) to do tricks

This an insane number of rats. You shouldve got more and taught them to kill pitbulls.

One thing I've noticed is white women will do anything to protect themselves, but buy a gun, including getting a pitbull. You'd be safer with a gun because they dont randomly go off.

Or they have no sense of cleanliness and think a rat can hold its piss in for hours. You're looking at it through a rational lens. These people are not rational people.

My retarded cousin let her son randomly buy a few baby rats from a fucking flea market of all places without even knowing their gender. By time they started reproducing like crazy he had done lost interest in them. They were in one cage that got cleaned once a month so I just built two big habitat like cages and took them. Its surprising how affectionate and smart they are.

I got banned from r/twoXchromosomes for saying something similar🙄 They were ranting about it not being safe for them to go hiking in the woods alone. I pointed out that I thru hike solo pretty comfortably despite being a woman bc I conceal carry no matter what.

One of my favorite shows at my local Renaissance faire is Circe de Sewer. Rats named after deadly diseases doing tricks, a couple trained cats, and some acrobatics from the human. Rats are such fun little critters.

On topic, my friend with the passel of pit bulls continues to be shocked that they fight each other regularly. She's currently got them all wearing muzzles and can't leave them in the same room together. She's put them all on meds and just can't figure out why this is happening so often. Why, her other pits never fought with each other! I love her, but she's got a huge blind spot for these ugly mutts. I suspect she'll end up putting most of them down, which is the rational move instead of taking them back to the shelter. But she won't have learned her lesson and will go right back to adopt more.
