The great thing about this video (based on these clips I haven't seen the whole thing) is that you could swap out Eric's picture for any of Richard's enemies and it would be very similar.

So, I'll start with the last clip first: This is not really about the "Rippaverse" it's just an excuse for another one of Richard's bad elevator pitches for a comic. I'm glad that Richard no longer has a staff so we don't have to be subjected to it. Not that it would matter, who knows if you'd ever get Richard's witch comic even if he had a staff to write and draw it. I would hope people would know enough not to fund Richard's books on Indiegogo or whatever.

The first clip is really just because Richard wants to do his moron voice for one of the strawmen he's invented in his head. I'll give him this, Richard really does sound like a moron.

The next clip is because Richard wants to control how other people interact online, so he's trying to shame them out of it. His shaming tactics would just make me stubborn if I were involved in any of these online communities though. Well, I guess I am slightly, since I post in this thread after all.

The third clip, "Yes, Richard, I know you hate me. I consider it a badge of honor to be hated by someone who's taste in entertainment is as bad as yours is."

Overall, I wonder why he's getting this emotional about silly nonsense. Life is short, and Richard doesn't have that much time left. He certainly did sound emotional in that video, and miserable.

I think that"if they made it today" sentiment actually might be true in my case. I second guess people's motivations for everything all the time anymore. I think it is mostly because rather than some cool girl character like Sarah Connor coming around once in a while, it is all of the time. It felt sort of loosely proportional to reality in the past. Most times the person saving people and carrying someone out of a burning building is a guy, but every once in a while there's a lady doing something heroic and it was cool when it happened.

That is, if there was a steady stream of movies where there's a straight white guy as a good person and a hero, no one would worry about the random other movies with someone from a tiny segment of the population . They'd probably think it was cool and interesting. But now that they trip over themselves to avoid a straight white man being a good guy (unless they really have to for legacy character reasons, and even then they'll surround him with every other kind of person to make up for it) so any time it's any other kind of person these days, you know they're doing it for reasons. How do you know? Because they're not ever doing anything else. Those other movies that used to balance things out mostly went away. Now it's brown girlbosses as far as the eye can see.
