2023 Israel-Palestine Armed Conflict

I did go to one of those "Bring Them Home Now" rallies in a city near me early last year, because i'm an ethnic minority and wanted to show solidarity with my countrymen, but we weren't calling for a ceasefire or leaving Hamas in power or anything like that. Any foreigner framing it like this has got it twisted.
What ethnic minority are you and what (generally) do they think about the Jews/Zionism/ the war? I find it funny how on Reddit random people will go into the subreddit for kurds and ask them what they think about Palestine/the Palestinians and why won't they support them (because hur dur both want independence) the kurds either go: "it's not our problem we go bigger shit to deal with" or "fuck the Palestinians they supported Saddam when he gasses us"

Leave it to Reddit to think that every cause they support is a united front.

Half Israeli Druze and half Syrian Druze.

The four remaining hostages from Phase I (presumed deceased) will be released within the next 24 hours, without spectacle.

The funeral for murdered hostage Oded Lifshitz was held today, tomorrow will see the funerals for the Bibas family as well as the release of four more killed hostages, and soon after, their funerals. Expect to see a lot of angry, emotional Israelis in the coming days.

Yair Lapid, current opposition leader in the Knesset. In his almighty idiocy has come forth (archive) with an alternative for the transfer deal:
  • Give Egypt control over the Gaza strip for 15 years
  • In return Egypt gets all of its external debt of $155 Billion be forgiven by the international community
Egypt unsurprisingly agrees that this is retarded, and they want no part in it:

Yeah tbh i don't know what good could come from managing this bombed out shithole. Like, what has egypt to gain from this? Nothing, sure, their debt will be forgiven, but the expense tacked on running said bombed out shithole will quickly add back up, and even if it doesn't result in monetary problems it's gonna result in a hell of a lot more problems. Also they are gonna have a terrorist organisation on what's essentially their territory.

Israel is bombing southern Syria. I guess the Hamas and Hezbollah fronts were calming down so may as well try to get a piece of Syria while they’re down. Whatever passes for Syria’s government these days is complaining but as far as I can tell they aren’t really fighting back. Let’s see if the Golan Heights will become officially Israeli territory this time!

DAMASCUS, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Israeli warplanes hit a town south of Syria's capital as well as the southern province of Daraa late on Tuesday, residents, security sources and local broadcaster Syria TV said.
Israeli planes struck the town of Kisweh approximately 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of Damascus, a Syrian security source and Syria TV said. The security source said a military site was targeted, without providing further details.
Additional Israeli air raids hit a town in the southern province of Daraa, a resident and Syria TV said.
The Israeli military said in a statement later that it attacked military targets in southern Syria including headquarters and sites which it said contained weapons.
"The Air Force is attacking strongly in southern Syria as part of the new policy we have defined of pacifying southern Syria - and the message is clear: we will not allow southern Syria to become southern Lebanon," Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz's spokesperson said in a statement.
He added: "Any attempt by the Syrian regime forces and the country's terrorist organizations to establish themselves in the security zone in southern Syria - will be met with fire."
Residents of Damascus and Reuters reporters in the city heard the sound of airplanes flying several low passes over the capital and a series of blasts.
The bombardment came hours after Syria condemned Israel's incursion into the country's south and demanded it withdraw, according to the closing statement of a national summit.
Israel moved forces into a U.N.-monitored demilitarized zone within Syria after rebels led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a former Al Qaeda affiliate, toppled former President Bashar al-Assad in December.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel will not tolerate the presence of HTS in southern Syria, nor any other forces affiliated with the country's new rulers, and demanded the territory be demilitarized.

Edit: I realized how little I knew about the Syria situation and skimmed the relevant thread. I’m now pretty hopeful (for the record I’m Israeli-American and recently moved back to Israel) about the current Syria and Lebanon situation. Lebanon’s new government is Christian-led and there’s a pretty high likelihood of some Syrian Christians moving in and perhaps making Lebanon a Christian country again. The less Muslim Lebanon is, the better. Syria’s current leadership hates Iran and Hezbollah so they probably won’t start shit with Israel if they can avoid it. Ideally Syria would be willing to cede Golan Heights and Mt. Hermon in exchange for a truce (🌈), but even if they aren’t they’re too busy stabilizing the regime to take them back. Anyways, the current major players in Israel, Lebanon, and Syria are all bitter enemies of Hezbollah, so they might not be able to survive much longer.

Yarden Bibas' eulogy broke me.
Bibas, wearing an orange kippah, began by addressing his wife. "Mi Amor. I remember the first time I said 'mi amor' to you. It was at the very beginning of our relationship. You told me to only call you if I was certain I loved you, not to say it carelessly. I didn't say it then because I didn't want you to think I was rushing to say, 'I love you.' Shiri, I'll confess to you now that I already loved you back then when I said "mi amor."

"Shiri, I love you and will always love you! Shiri, you are everything to me! You are the best wife and mother there could be. Shiri, you are my best friend.

"Mishmish, who will help me make decisions now? How am I supposed to make decisions without you?
"Do you remember our last decision together? In the safe room, I asked if we should 'fight or surrender.' You said fight, so I fought. Shiri, I'm sorry I couldn't protect you all. If only I had known what would happen, I wouldn't have fired.

"I think about everything we went through together—there are so many beautiful memories. I remember Ariel and Kfir's births. I remember the days we would sit at home or in a café, just the two of us, talking for hours about everything under the sun. It was wonderful. I miss those times deeply. Your presence is profoundly missed.

"I want to tell you about everything that's happening in the world and here in Israel. Shiri, everyone knows and loves us—you can't imagine how surreal all this madness is. Shiri, people tell me they'll always be by my side, but they're not you. So please stay close to me and don't go far! Shiri, this is the closest I've been to you since October 7, and I can't kiss or hug you, and it's breaking me!

"Shiri, please watch over me. Protect me from bad decisions. Shield me from harmful things and protect me from myself. Guard me so I don't sink into darkness. Mishmish, I love you!

"Chuki, Ariel, you made me a father. You transformed us into a family," Yarden addressed his sons. "You taught me what truly matters in life and about responsibility. The day you were born, I matured instantly because of you. You taught me so much about myself, and I want to thank you. So thank you, my beloved.

"Ariel, I hope you're not angry with me for failing to protect you properly and for not being there for you. I hope you know I thought about you every day, every minute.

"I hope you're enjoying paradise. I'm sure you're making all the angels laugh with your silly jokes and impressions. I hope there are plenty of butterflies for you to watch, just like you did during our picnics. Chuki, be careful when you climb down from your cloud not to step on Toni. Teach Kfir all your impressions and make everyone laugh up there. Ariel, I love you "the most in the world, always in the world," just as you used to tell us.

"Poopik, Kfir, I didn't think our family could be more perfect, and then you came and made it even more perfect... I remember your birth. I remember during the delivery when the midwife suddenly stopped everything—we were frightened and thought something was wrong—but it was just to tell us we had another redhead. Mom and I laughed and rejoiced. You brought more light and happiness to our little home. You came with your sweet, captivating laugh and smile, and I was instantly hooked! It was impossible not to nibble on you all the time.

"Kfir, I'm sorry I didn't protect you better, but I need you to know that I love you deeply and miss you terribly! I miss nibbling on you and hearing your laughter. I miss our morning games when Mom would ask me to watch you before I went to work. I cherished those little moments so much, and I miss them now more than ever! Kfir, I love you the most in the world, always in the world!

"I have so many more things to tell you all, but I'll save them for when we're alone."

Fort Lee, NJ - as Jewish and non Jewish residents of a neighborhood were having a memorial for the Bibas family, antisemite Sonali Chigurupati decided to interrupt & steal one of the orange balloons. When confronted, she proudly flashed her ‘intifada’ tattoo.

The bodies of the four remaining hostages from Phase I are now in Israeli custody ( a ). An official statement regarding their identities will be made once they've been confirmed by the forensics team, but as of now, the families of Shlomo Mantzur, Tsachi Idan, and Ithzak Elgarat have announced that their loved ones are among the four. The last released hostage is expected to be Ohad Yahalomi.

Shlomo Mantzur was the oldest of all the hostages at 86, and survived the Farhud as a child. Tsachi Idan was abducted from his home on October 7th after his eldest daughter was killed in front of their family.

Meanwhile, the Israeli police are exacting some petty FAFO against recently released Palestinian prisoners:

Additionally, "Our eyes are watching you" ( a ) was reportedly projected onto a building opposite one of the jails Palestinian prisoners will be released from.

Something I didn't see mentioned here about the Bibas funeral:
Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir were all buried in the same casket, so that they could be together.

Seems to be a standard issue socjus crybully, she's been feeling "unsafe" since she was an undergrad. Going from "whining in the student newspaper" to "actively harassing Jews on the street" means we're probably also looking at standard issue mental illness manifesting in one's mid-20s.
