100% agree. I think a lot of the problem too is that welfare has become so expansive that not enough attention can be paid to each individual case and the exact needs in each situation, and the lack of oversight makes it easier for people to slip through the cracks and take advantage.

that verse is constantly taken out of context anyway. he was telling the prostitute to leave her life of sin, as in, do not continue living an intentionally sinful life. reform yourself as best you can. the whole point of those verses is that jesus rebukes the pharisees and others around him who have tried to bring her before him for the purpose of stoning her to death or seeing jesus condemn her.
