Rock and a hard place, Ukraine's position isn't great and Zelensky doesn't exactly have much leverage. Americans are generally tired of money being sent to a country that is seemingly in an endless war and the Ukrainians don't have all the power and pockets of AIPAC.

The only right moves for him I can think of currently is trying to show the American populace what is gained by helping his country and at least being agreeable with Trump publicly. Getting on the bad side on one of your more important benefactors (if not the most important) rarely if ever goes well.

It has been a pointless slaughter for years now.

The Ukrainians were and are certainly valiant in their defense, but they just can't reconquer what the Russians already occupied.
Russia has the longer breath in this war, they produce their own weapons, have a larger population and have a "start atomic war" button.

Bitter Pill for the Ukrainians to be sure, but history is not fair.

The Korean War also wasn't fair and the peninsula will forever be fucked. This war should have never happened nor should the escalation ever went past the Donbas in 2014.
Obama could have fixed the issue back then and the event could have never even happened if America ever tried to work with Russia.

It's not hard to know what Putin wanted for decades which was an actual relationship with the West so Russia could prosper and we never gave it to him so now we reached the point where he will then take land and grab power. Despite their relationship with China they constantly betrayed each other because neither trusted the either and Mao himself thought Russia would invade. We have had diplomatic relationships with worse nations yet decided to continue the Cold War mentality while greater threats existed. Russia is responsible for this war, but the roots of the conflict ultimately lies with Western Nations. Russia has no worse human rights than China or any Middle Eastern country.

I'm not some person who goons to the death of Russians or Ukrainians like a large portion of this site nor to I have the delusion that Ukraine can hold out forever. War sucks, concessions suck, and if anyone hasn't realized since the end of WW2 conflicts don't end nicely or cleanly. If you are an actual leader you would do what's best for your country no matter how much it sucks. The war had to end.

All the aid in the world can’t replace the people who died. The demographic damage is probably irreparable at this point.
