I'm going to say that a big part of the reason why there aren't lolcows 'like in the good ole days' is because the Internet and lolcow culture have grown so much. Most people with threads here have acknowledged the concept in some capacity so they self police. Only bonafide degenerates produce enough to be considered true lolcows. The self-righteous/sociopath a-log question. All these boxes are open and consequences will never be the same.

I think a bigger part of the problem is that as time goes on and the internet has expanded, it has become clear that lolcows aren't a unique phenomenon when it comes to internet users the way we used to view it. It is more a result of the internet itself. It reminds me of two twitter posts I have seen over the last couple of days.



While there are people who are naturally severe eccentrics in life, I think a lot more of the population are NPCs who will become whatever society shaped and programmed them to be. Very few people are capable of avoiding the ills, pitfalls and programming forced on them by modern society. Society only follows those who lead it, if you have a healthy and stable pack doing it then you get far more stable human beings. Have a dysfunctional pack leading it and you get far more dysfunctional people following suit.

For the internet, I feel that it has become evident that a lot of normies can't navigate it properly and are cursed to fall down all the bad rabbit holes that cows have always been known to do. While a lot of older cows were natural eccentrics venturing out online, it turns out a lot of people can become eccentric when spending time online.

Being a cow isn't so much about whether or not you're an eccentric person who likes to be online as much as it is if you're a person who has the capability to avoid becoming one when you're online.

If you actually fall for this you're retarded. This doesn't look like how Dobson draws at all. Now it's possible he's degraded in his absence but there's things just fundamentally off.

Take this random blue bear era comic for example. Notice how in each one Dobbear isn't drawn in a totally stiff straight pose and there's always a bit of intentional asymmetry to the drawing? Dobson might be a bad artist but he's classically trained and those are Preston Blair fundamentals he would've no doubt studied in his college years.

Point taken, but: He had some talent but was also often lazy with his drawings, nothing is stopping him from devolving artistically. And this is one panel with his character.

I'm still on the fence if this is actually Dobson or not, but we may need more than just the stupid bear standing still.

Agreed, 100%. This is a gayop. Every decent artist has a style or "tell" and, whatever we can say about Dobson, he had a style. I also agree with @Lupin The Turd about the rigidity. Dobson did follow certain cartoon and animation fundamentals drilled into people at art school. It's not the kind of stuff that artists just forget. For all his foibles, Dobson did understand how to be good - he was just too lazy to commit. He took shortcuts.

that does look like an older version of the Blue Bear - which wore glasses - but if it's someone trying to copy dobson's (old) style, yeah that would be a red flag for a faker.
