Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

While I'm not European, getting strung out in the park may not necessarily be illegal but is probably frowned upon...and besides, if you're advocating that everyone rides the train/really wants trains but can't, then why are YOU living on the fringe of society? Plus, after dark, taxis reign supreme, there is NO city with reliable, consistent public transit after 9 pm. Most lines run every 30 minutes (like Berlin) if at all.
Having a few beers at the park is very normal around here.
Also, subways here run until 1AM with 10 minute frequency during the week, starting again at 4:15AM. On weekends and before holidays they go throughout the night. Trams have the same operating times, busses are probably different. There's another type of mainly above-ground metro that shuts down earlier, but all in all we have some pretty reliable and consistent public transport here, even at night.

Apparently, fans of The Sims 4 tend to be also anti-car, unless it's only the redduhtors that feel this way: / Archive

The context of this is that The Sims 4 does not have ownable cars or carpools, as the only cars available are non-interact able set dressing. The past 3 Sims games have had cars in one form or another, as in Carpools and School Buses to go to work or school in all 3 Sims games, The Sims 2 added ownable cars in the Nightlife Expansion Pack and even added an ownable Helicopter in Apartment Life, and The Sims 3 included cars in the Base Game that have more use (although less detailed than TS2 since you just appear in your car to drive to your destination like a World of Warcraft mount, compared to how you back your car out of the driveway and then drive off the lot in TS2) since TS3 is an open-world game.

EA has put out a survey this year for Expansion Pack ideas, and three of them (Car Life, Work on Wheels, and Van Life), relate to the ever icky cars that are the Scourge of the anti-cars community. / Archive

I haven't really heard anything about fans of the first 3 Sims games being anti-car, and at least even with the car-focused aspect of TS3's gameplay, it also has ownable bicycles to satisfy the pro-bikes crowd.

Perhaps "Suburban Living" (which is odd, wasn't the whole of TS1 and TS2 before expansion packs about suburbs?)

As for Van Life, I seem to remember that was a thing a few years ago on YouTube before the whole Gabby Petito thing threw cold water on the concept. I'm not sure if anyone does it now except for the hobos doing it before. (It was stupid to begin with).

The super glamourization of van life always felt like a proto bugmanism thing when it was disguised as an enlightened lifestyle instead of a necesity

But even then it has all the hallmarks of the city cuck urbanite lifestyle (cramped spaces, the need for forced community hubs, often no privacy) with atleast the benefit of it being a car. I shouldnt be surprised theres a visceral hate but its still kinda funny

extremely stupid person on Reddit said:
Nah, cars suck ass. I'd love to live in a society where cars are unimportant like Europe or Asia. Unfortunately, I'm American so need a car to get anywhere. I live my dreams in the Sims. Cars wouldn't fit into that world.

I'm pretty sure cars are still important in Europe (real Europe, not "the fantasy Europe I made up in my head"). Maybe Asia, but only the really poor areas.

Have you noticed when they talk about "people-oriented" areas, Africa (in general) never, ever comes up?

It’s just the redditors. Sims players are mostly normie women who enjoy playing with a digital dollhouse, and they don’t use Reddit.
Fellas, if you're talking to a woman online who says she's a gamer but has never played the Sims, she's a tranny, just an FYI. Real women play the Sims.

I would consider the whole "women in games" to be a red flag in general, it's either a dude (trannies and/or larpers included) or they've got a severe case of GOTIS.

Bringing this back on topic, most of the /r/fuckcars people are male/trannies (and usually as men they give off severe beta/closeted gay vibes) but every once in a while you run into a true and honest woman on this thread. All of the examples are lunatics, of course (probably with some flavor of BPD) but I can't help but think this creates some sort of feedback loop where women sharing their autistic hatred of the private automobile/fetishizing city life only solidifies being "right".

/r/fuckcars proving once again they are full of alcoholics.
Nah, they're bugmen that would get wwwaaaaasteeddd brroooo off de-alcoholized beer if you told them it was regular IPA; a bunch of children playing at adult things. True alcoholics know nothing boosts the enjoyment of liquor like the wind in your hair and the roar of an engine. I guess maybe the women could be real alcoholics like the main character in The Outrun, but I'm probably the only one that's seen that movie.

Agree, I think it's one of those cases where there's an overlap in community (fuckcars and Sims) and it's coincidenal like with troons and Fallout New Vegas.

Of course there are indicators that would suggest the probability of an overlap is higher. For example a game like Sims 4 might be more popular with leftists and fuckcars is primarily made up of leftists.

where women sharing their autistic hatred of the private automobile/fetishizing city life only solidifies being "right".
It's also that they've tried to frame it as a "it's actually a sexism" issue where their argument is that women drive less than men so cars are inherently sexist. Which is pretty much on par with "air conditioning is sexist" rhetoric.

Which ironically fuckcars also downplays subways being unsafe which actually does impact primarily women.

Also something something pickup trucks something something male fantasy.

They'll change their tune quickly when they miss rent on their bughive and have to chose between living in a tent or a car.

Also, The Sims community, and even some modders, still use Tumblr post porn-ban. I haven't looked for it myself, but I heard that The Sims community on Facebook and Xitter is also insufferable, but I'm not sure if it's worse than the Sims redduhtors. It also doesn't help that EA is actively pandering The Sims for the rainbow communities though, as The Sims 4 literally added things like gender customization (which includes LACTATION options), pronouns, top scars (they're cosmetic only though), sexual relationship preferences, etc; and some of the staff on The Sims Team are also troons.

Surely if they add cars and you don't like cars you could just choose not to use them. Unless the reminder that cars exist is too much for this retard lol

That and I think its that they have so few talking points in their favor that they have to keep reiterating the same ones repeatedly. (Besides the confirmed ones who are self admitted alcoholics like American Fister). The three that keep getting brought up are:
  • You don't have to drive yourself
  • You can play video games/eat
  • You can ride while drunk
The last one seems to be repeated the most because they think its the one normies will find the most appealing. To some level I think they're hedging their bets on this last one because not everyone cares about playing video games every waking moment of the day.

The problem with "ride while drunk" is actually the worst one. An inebriated pasty white male with no muscle tone on a train after dark? Might as well throw your wallet down a storm drain with those odds.

I always hated using cars in the Sims 2, and especially in the Sims 3, because its way easier & quicker to just use cheats & teleport your Sims to the lots you want them to visit. The cars were prone to glitching/spawning extra cars that lag your neighborhood. For some reason the ice cream van in Sims 3 was especially prone to this car glitch. Like, hundreds of them would just randomly spawn in front of your house lot, than crash the game (screenshot of said glitch from an old Sims forum):

In real life, cars wouldn't be all that popular, if free instantaneous teleportation was suddenly a travel option.

Their subreddit's icon made that clear enough

Their nonsensical LGBTQ+ABCDEFG icon, ironically, makes their subreddit seem like it's about people who really "like" cars, if you know what I mean....
