Man, i'm replaying Skyrim again with the same modlist but now i'm a Nord warrior (all the combat skills except two-handed).
Enchanting a daedric/dragonbone shield (or using a pre-enchantment shield) is the new thing i'm gonna do it.

The classic viking berserker playstyle is always a blast. I've been chopping people up on-and-off for a while now. There's still something charming about hearing "YOU'LL NEVER LEAVE SKYRIM ALIVE-" before their noggin flies off, huh?

You should try all those new combat gore mods, there's a new decapitation/gore framework (or whatever it was called...) that lets you cut dudes to bits more regularly in standard combat without the killcam, and it's way more stable than all the previous gore mods. One time I decapitated like three guys at once just like one of those old tall tales!

If you're doing a Skyrim replay, I highly recommend Beyond Reach for a bunch of new shit to do. It's buggy as hell and the VA goes back and forth between hilariously bad (XBLA mic quality) to decent, but the atmosphere is seriously great and the story itself is pretty good. Reminds me of those mid-2000s horror games like Condemned with how unabashedly edgy and grim it is. Basically everyone is a total scumbag and wants to kill you with varying degrees of honesty, but they aren't expecting you to come packing Ordinator Destruction magic and a big fuck-off greatsword with the dismemberment framework.

Chopping Tamriel's version of devil-worshipping hippies to bits while your Flame Cloak incinerates their corpses and turns them into burning pyres of ash is kino.

People talk about how the stealth archer is where all people end up, for me it's this.
>Make mages
>Start learning spells like a madman
>Magic is shit in Skyrim without mods
>Spellsword because I also have combat mods
>"Oooo, now that's a nice weapon."
>Said weapon is a two handed weapon
>MFW this is the third time in the past month this has happened
Magic just ain't it in Skyrim...
I am honestly surprised there aren't any edits of him in Oblivion.
There's one for Middle-Earth.
And Morrowind.

I will say though one thing that has always bothered me in these games at least in Oblivion and especially Skyrim is that there's no racism towards the player character specifically. And as far as I know there are no mods to rectify this. It bothers me because as an example in Skyrim beastfolk aren't that common and we're shown and told they are pretty fucking racist in Skyrim. I mean the Khajiit caravan is basically barred from entering towns just because they're Khajiit but yet the player never encounters any kind of meaningful racism or bigotry that makes playing as them any different.

What's the point of playing as a fucking furry faggot if people are just gonna treat me the same as if I picked an Imperial? Where's the guy that's like "Hey you fucking walking carpet get the fuck out of my village!" you know? It's shit like that, that bothers me. I wouldn't even care if the game didn't show non-player beastfolk getting racism'd on but yet it almost never happens to the player.

Like in my mind, playing as a beast character should be hard mode, at least socially.

I can understand it not being in Oblivion considering Bethesda's inability to properly compress their audio (which allegedly led to massive cuts in both Oblivion and FO3). I'd imagine stuff like special dialogue based on the player's race was among the first on the chopping block. Reputation in general in Oblivion was massively dumbed down from Morrowind (and even there it wasn't that in depth) and by Skyrim, it was practically nonexistent. They'd never implement it in a way where it could lock the player out of content though and definitely wouldn't bother making alternate scenarios for beastfolk.

I don't think it's that, even though their sound tech is a fucking sperg is another issue. Bethesda just wants to be inoffensive as possible.

The craziest part is that I played Skyrim first. I dunno how to explain why, Oblivion is so intentionally and unintentionally hilarious that it almost feels like a parody of itself but played completely straight.
Every bad facet of Oblivion is also so-bad-it's-good. Aside from level scaling It's like The Room of video games. The faces are ugly, the voices are goofy and over the top, radiant AI is a cluster fuck, the gameplay is pretty bad, but it all just comes together and just works. It feels like a fever dream, and I think the devs must have realized that too and leaned on it a little bit because some of the quests are fucking crazy.

Maybe now yeah, but we're talking about a game with jokes about necrophilia and ogre gangbangs.

edit: i'm specifically referring to Oblivion

Well, in Skyrim Serana aludes to a violation made by Molag Bal, a stormcloak tortured by the thalmor and so many others i don't remember.
In Morrowind we have a daedra taunting you to rape your corpse, one of the vivec sermons was basically eating Molag Bal's dick, Divayth Fyr and his four wifes/daughters.
I know Skyrim toned down a lot of those things, and i'm not gonna be surprised in ES6 takes all that shit away.

Skyrim is weird because it doesn't have much R rated parts to it, but when it does, it goes hard on it. Serana getting raped to death by Molag Bal, Hilda fucking married dudes and doing God knows what with daedric boots, Ulfric and the Gray Mane guy getting tortured by the Thalmor, the guy at the embassy who tries to use his influence to try to rape the elf serving girl, Sibbi trying to kill his fiancee and her brother, literally delivering a child to a sex cult???

But God forbid someone say fuck outside of like 3 instances.

also replaying it again but as a High Elf, using a Sword and Restoration in the other hand for the most part, just slowing going through the Main Quest and Civil War as well as the occasional bandit contracts you can get at taverns, this is probably my 4th full playthrough since I bought it, hopefully Todd stops retarding and we get ES6 in 2026/2027 (I get people are cynical about it but I don't really have a big hate boner for the Bethesda format), God knows weve had enough of the snow environment

The lack of race-based dialogue in Skyrim is so frustrating. I was doing Azura's quest as a Dunmer and when the priestess greets you you only have two options, "Who's Azura" and "Shut up give quest". Then she gives you a big spiel on who Azura is either way and talks to you about the plight of the Dark Elves and says "my people" over and over.

At least there's like, one line in Windhelm where they're 1% as inoffensively racist toward you as possible (there's someone in the inn who will say "Oh great another Dark Elf" or something). Just frustrating. I was thinking the other day how cool it would be to go through with AI and give everybody in the game like 20 more lines minimum. It'd be a lot of work but it'd really make the world pop.

EDIT: I'd be remiss to not plug Beyond Reach here again. Now THAT'S some good ol' fashioned fantasy racism. There's a fucking Orc lynching in the town square at one point and that's only the beginning. It doesn't even force you to be like "B-BUT RACISM IS WRONG QwQ", you can say she deserves it lmfao.

Morrowind did sort of factor this in because it had a disposition system that actively changed based on your race and the race of who you were talking to.

I don't blame Bethesda for not coding racism directed at the player into the game given that only a small percentage of players will actually see it. Still, it would be nice if beast races or high elves had to perhaps bribe the city guards when entering racist cities, shit like that.

I still remember the last time I played, one of the thieves guild NPCs you meet in Riften, the edgy bitch extorting that Redguard for debt, will tell you she was kept captive and raped by a gang of bandits as part of her backstory. Skyrim doesn't normally have much in the way of that overt edge, but the violence and overall tone feels appropriately mature.
But God forbid someone say fuck outside of like 3 instances.
I actually really like this about Skyrim. Millennial writing has ruined "fuck", and the writing works fine without characters resorting to it, as it feels more tonally appropriate.

Excessive swearing is a product of modern fantasy. Nobody in Morrowind or Skyrim says a modern day swear, they use in-universe slurs and appropriately medievally insults. It helps the world feel far more immersive than something like "fuckface" ever would.

This is Todds revenge for nobody buying Redguard 30 years ago.
